Hi Guys; I just learned, from this forum, that when I change tubes in this amp, it needs to be re biased. Uh OH! I put in new power tubes (JJ's - same as it had when I got it used) and didn't realize the need to do anything more. I also replaced the rectifier tube.
Is there a danger in playing it before I get it re biased? Can I hurt the amp?

Keep an eye on the power tubes, if they start to red plate when you push it hard then shut her down. You could wear out the tubes faster if it's biased too hot.
did it come with E34L's or EL34's and did you put in the same? JJ makes both. If your uncertain just use the old ones till you can get it re biased.
good luck rp

With the appropriate tools it's an easy job to do yourself.
Following advice and encouragement from several of the guys here, I went ahead and learned how. I've done a couple of my Zs already and have a couple more tube replacements planned. As a result, my investment in tools will be "paid off" pretty soon.

One thing is certain - your amp will sound its best with properly biased power tubes.
