One of the things I have loved about the Maz Jr NR is that with the volume at or above 2:00 it started to get this wonderful Marshally overdrive, especially with a LP.
Just wondering if the Maz 8 has the same characteristic, especially in the 4 watt mode?

Hmmmm, I just don't know what to make of this question. The Marshall thing can mean so many things . . . . . . my Maz 8 will get a nice overdrive, especially with my Parker and a humbucker but I would not call it a high gain unless I really push it with something . . . . I'll putz with it more and see . . . .

My 18 through a pair of greenbacks, with all three tone knobs died definitely got some Marshall crunch.

todd, if you set up your maz jr with the volume at about 2:00, bass at 10, cut at 10, mid and treb at 1:00, master to taste and then plug in a les paul you will get the vibe of what i am talking about.
not a high gain marshall sound, more of a jtm type sound. just 70's classic rock.
that is what i was wondering if the maz 8 could produce, just at a lower volume.
thanks guys.

^^^+1. That's exactly how I've been setting my 8 up! Pentode into High input. R9 with Burstbuckers. I'm lovin' it!

Quick demo of those "Marshall" settings:
Did some things with the volume knob and switched between pickups.... also dropped it down into Triode Mode w/ the EQ bypass for a bit too.

That about how the 18 would sound? It's been awhile since I had one, but I think it's fairly close. Maybe some minor tweaks to get it right on.
That said, I really do like the EQ bypass w/ the cut knob up in Triode. Really sexy sound.
