Anyone see it yet?
We saw it in 3d Friday and left a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I missed something story wise?

Anyone see it yet? We saw it in 3d Friday and left a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I missed something story wise? Ya I saw it as mentioned above... That left you underwhelmed Did you see it in 3D IMAX? The film was shot with 3D cameras, not simply adapted for a re release. I've watched many 3D films and this one was by far the best. The characters where lacking a bit hard to root for some of them but man alive I thought it was great. Ridley Scott said this film was at least two movies out from the designated prequel. I hope he makes more to answer some lingering questions. Mind you I'm super geeky when it comes to Sci-Fi so may be a tad bias here.

We saw it in 3d not IMAX and the 3d was awesome. Some of the actions of the crew left us scratching our heads lol.

How did her suit's oxygen recharge at the end after she barely made it back to the escape pod in time?

Just an average film IMHO - not in the same league as Alien.

read this: cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.htmland some of this: www.prometheusforum.net/categories/prometheusThere's a LOT going on in that movie. A lot of it I noticed as I was watching it; many more interesting theories were brought up by the people in those linked blogs. Alien was a horror movie set in space...Prometheus is definitely trying to say something much bigger. It's more in the mode of Blade Runner. Every line and every cave drawing and every mural in the Engineers ship has significance. The dialog and habits of David are especially key. Also the relationship of the android to his creators (humans) and the relationship of the humans to the Engineers and Aliens is explored...what does it mean to create life? Was that giant head on the engineer's ship an image or idol of their god, in whose image they were made? I do enjoy movies where they don't hit you over the head with everything. I had a ton of questions after leaving the film. Then again maybe the entire thing is a meaningless mind frak by Ridley Scott and Damon Lindeof and none of it means a darn thing. Maybe they're sitting back and laughing at all of the speculation.

Hope he makes more and answers some of the lingering questions. I liked the movie although the characters were pretty lame and the story had holes. What I dug the most was the cool gadgets and tech they used throughout.

apparently a lot of other people have the same idea about watching Alien before going to see Prometheus. I just noticed in my Netflix queue that it says "Very long wait" on Alien. and last night was the last night Prometheus shows in our local theater... looks like we'll have to watch it on cable when it's available or on netflix. oh, well.

By far the best graphics and space scenes I've ever seen. By far the worst scify story, script and screenplay.

You could definitely take "Prometheus" one of two ways: a thought-provoking scifi film about the origins of life, what it means to be human and have a soul, who created us, and who created "them", religious implications...OR...Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelhof just threw a bunch of crap out there and hoped some of it would "stick". I'm in the former camp. I enjoyed it. I also loved the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica although it suffered from many of the same problems...especially the "deus ex machina" ending.

Yeah Phil, it was hard to buy into it, though it should be clear I'm not a fan of hollywoodesque scifi. I like the new Battlestar Glalactica, kinda meaty drama with a scify canvas, had a decent premise that could have concluded better as you said. Have you seen 'Man from earth', I think this could be one of the best scripts I've had the pleasure of.
