One of my long time customer's who happens to be an aspiring luthier was in my shop today getting his vehicle serviced and it reminded me to post a link to his website. He's actually a graphic artist by day, but a phenomenal wood worker by trade. He built his first guitar a couple of years ago and just finished his second recently. What's amazing is that he doesn't even play guitar, he just appreciates the beauty and craft of the instrument. He's currently also working on an electric carve top prototype and we've been talking about collaborating on a custom electric when he feels comfortable. His first guitar was just amazing. Check him out, one very skilled guy (and very modest about it): www.kappsguitarcompany.com

That looks like nice work. I've always had a fondness for Jumbo's. Do I look fat?

Geez! That's gorgeous! Leo Fender couldn't play either and look what he did! I read in Forrest White's book that Leo's lab was next to Forrest's office. Leo would be designing a circuit and trying different changes. He would lay a guitar on the bench, turn the amp way up and strum it with a screwdriver. Forrest couldn't stand it so he would go in and tune the guitar to an open chord so it wasn't quite so irritating.
