My trem started acting up. When I press the footswitch button to activate the trem there is a delay. About 4-5 seconds. Then it fades in and operates normally. The amp otherwise works properly and sounds great.
Anyone know which tube drives the trem?

I've tried to find the manual but haven't had any luck. But if I had to guess I would say it's probably V5 or V6. I could tell for sure with a schematic but maybe someone can chime in that knows for sure. Maybe shoot a quick email to Brent at Dr Z and he could probably tell you.
Looking at a Blackface Reverb schematic it is V5 but that doesn't mean a whole lot with the Doc's stuff.

I tried a few know good tubes. Still had a delay before the trem started working. Then I turned the depth down. It was set to max. It works fine as long as it not set to max. Not a problem as I never use it like that. I must have bumped the knob to max moving the amp. Thats when I noticed the delay for the first time.
Anyone else get a delay if you set the knob to max?

Mine doesn't have a delay when switching it, but if my depth knob is set above about 1 o'clock - I get a pulsing sound that causes me to back it off. The amp seems to respond to a lower depth level setting better, if I raise the overall volume. The speed of the trem doesn't seem to matter, when I have the depth knob too high. Just a faster pulse... tom

I just went and checked on mine and I also get a delay with the depth set to max. Like you it is also not a problem for me so yours seems to be normal I would say.

hi!! I noticed this when I first got the amp and I asked Brent. He told me that it's normal. This trem is biasing the power tubes! you can see them pulsating red green yellow blue and so on when it is on. In max settings it takes some time for the caps to charge ,hence the delay. However if you switch it on ,wait for it to come to full effect then switch it off then again on quickly it switches on faster 'cause there s still juice in the caps. Never had to have it on max so it's no problem for me either! I just love this amp so much!
