Hey guys been a while since I posted but heres my problem.
Looking for a new amp current set up is a 86' jcm 800 through 212. Les paul, strat, eternity and fat pants for boost.
Im looking for a more clear articulate amp with great cleans and a good rock distortion. Takes boost well and has a percussive attack where you can really hear every note and the pick hit the strings. 15 watts under, of course with the 15 watts I will probably use an attenuator. Needs to be dynamic, really respond well to volume changes and lets the guitars character come through. and lastly which may seem strange since I ve included the MAZ, simplicity.
SO... I cant find any clips that really display what I want to hear from the RX jr. The Maz 8 sounds great but I dont think it fits in some of the percussive needs. Im also looking at the Matchless Lightning and Nighthawk. Anyone own both of either of these or all or even played em. Just looking for some opinions on what might fit these "wants".
I know i need to try em for myself but out of these I cant find a freakin shop that has em together. That isnt 5 hours away.
Thanks guys, sands
Oh yeah I'll be getting a head and pushing 2 12 Eminence Legend v12 or a 1 12 WGS Veteran 30.

This sounds like an RXjr to me. clips never sound well. but yeah. Jr's packin all that and then some. takes pedals extreamly well. all in a simple little box with four knobs. you can't go wrong with this amp.

I have a Rx Jr and a Matchless-inspired Trinity amp. I find the Matchless to be more articulate than the Rx Jr (well, if not more it's certainly a different sound) I love my Rx with a tele If you want to get a feel for the Lightning vibe, there are some Gibson videos with Audley Freed on YouTube where he is using a Lightning, IIRC It's a great sound. Overall, the Rx Jr may be better since you have the Overdose, which almost makes the amp a Quasi 2-channel amp. Keith

Yeah the audley freed clips were what got me interested in the lightning. I mainly use a les paul but ever now and then throw in a strat for some funky stuff. I dig the sound of the lightning but the RX jr has really peeked my interest. The 2 channel amp really doesnt mean much to me as Im a single channel guy. The MAZ 8 has me interested due to the low watts, although I would get a Brake Lite SA to go with the Jr have no idea what to put with the matchless tho.
I use boost pedals so the overdose is cool but probably wouldnt take the place of my trusty Eternity clone. I looked at the guts picks and the z is really clean the matchless looks really heavy duty. I also checked out a goodsell super 17 and the build quality of it is puny, looks almost like the insides of some tube based pedals Ive built.
How would you say the 2 compare overdrive wise with and without boost (jr and lightning)? thanks guys sands
