I know this can be subjective, everyone views sound a little different but what speaker would work well for an RX JR 1x12 combo? The band plays lots of classic rock, new and old country, country rock and even a tiny bit of some 80's rock.

Liked the Gold myself
For a warmer/smoother tone, a Heritage Greenback

G12H30 if you want a bunch of low end and like to thunk on the low strings.

I have the G12H30 and I do like it with the Jr. I would like to try the Greenback for sure because I think that's what the Doc puts in the 1x12 combo as the stock speaker.
One Question, what is the difference in the sound of the Blue and Gold? I have a Blue and like it and I understand that the Blue and Gold are capable of handling different wattages.

I liked mine with a Heritage Greenback which was awesome for lead work with a strat or tele. and i liked an Eminence Private Jack alot as well it was really tight in the bass and had a sort of scooped feel which was awesome with the RxJr beacuse I usually jacked the mids up on the amp

I will have to try those. I like the blue for certain things but it almost seems a little loose in the low end sometimes.

I enjoy the stock greenback in mine. great with tele and strat, and creamy with humbuckers*** LP, HSS strat, have an SG on the way.... so I'll let you know about that. The greenback is very percussive, and responsive. Nice, tight, punchy lows with the right amount of mids to smooth it out. The highs are great and focused as well. I've never tried another speaker, frankly because I couldn't find a reason to. though, It would be neat to pair it with a blue just for the extra compression, mids, and highs (just for kicks)

A Blue sounds dreamy.

Blue would be my choice, but I usually used a Gold and it never failed to impress. The Gold is going to have a bit better bottom end, very slightly less sizzle, and that exact same crunchy midrange. Great speaker!

Just ordered the Green Beret from WGS to try with the Jr. I will also probably try the Gold or the WGS equivalent to the Gold in the near future.

Well I tried the WGS greenback clone and it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. The gold is next on the list. I am also considering one of the tonetubby speakers. I would like to try both the alnico and ceramic versions.

In my RXJR, I have a single Greenback that works "perfectly" for my tonal needs (see dsauls89 description).
An aside: I played a Z-Wreck this weekend through an open-back 212 cab (non-Z) with Greenbacks - I didn't care for their (i.e., speakers) tone when coupled with the Z-Wreck.
With tone and oneness, Mike

Well, I've been playing the Jr with the G12H30 and I like it, but have ordered a Weber Legacy. I'm really interested in that speaker, plus they were on sale for $99, so we'll see!

I'd like to throw my two cents in here. The speaker I'm absolutely in love with is a g12T-100 speaker made by celestion for Fender I believe. I got one out of an old fender and man is it sweet with this amp. It brings out the clarity and sparkle with out being overly bright and the bass can be thunderous or just enough to fatten up the tone. Plus, you can get them for like 50 bucks on ebay.

I just tried a Gold in my 1x12 cab and then a Private Jack - I like the PJ better. Much more rockin' tone!

Well, I have been through a couple of speakers with the Rx Jr - G12H30, EJ1250, Green Beret, alnico Tone Tubby, and I have the Private Jack installed at the moment. The only downside I am seeing with it is that it's a pretty efficient speaker and is pretty loud for our rehearsal space. Of course, we always seem to play louder on gigs so it may work out. I still want to try the greenie though. I also have a gold but have yet to try it. So far it seems that I prefer ceramic over alnico with the Jr, whereas I seem to prefer alnico with some of my other Z's. My favorites so far being the H30 and the PJ.
What's on the list to try next? - -Greenback -Gold -WGS Invader (I already have one so I should be able to try it pretty quick) -Weber Silver Bell and/or Blue Dog

Try a broken-in Greenback. I'm telling you... you'll see why it's the stock speaker. really awesome.
If you can... could your pair it up with a Gold and see how those two work together.

I'm definitely gonna try it, I have to buy one first though. I wish I could find one used. It is the 25 watt version, correct? And pairing it with a gold sounds interesting. I'll try it out.

Once I get either the Gold or Greenback in the combo, I'll pair it with the other in my Z 112 ext cab. I have a Greenback on the way so it shouldn't be much longer now. I played and outdoor gig this past weekend, and I was really impressed with the tones I was getting with the Private Jack. Sounded good clean, but awesome with overdrive. I'm anxious to try it with the Greenie though, I like the idea of it being less efficient for smaller venues and gigs. If I decide to keep the Greenback in the combo, I will probably keep the PJ as a spare or backup. Assuming that I won't like some of the others better once I get around to trying them.

Tried the WGS Invader at practice tonight. I liked it, but it had a little too much bass for the RX Jr. It seemed to have quite a bit more bass than the Private Jack. I was still able to dial it in where I liked it, which was pretty low on the bass dial. I should be able to try the Gold and Greenback within the next few days.

Well, as I expected, the gold and greenie sound great together. Only thing is the gold is more efficient, so it does somewhat overpower the greenie, however, the ceramic qualities of the greenie are still there. It still maintains a little bit of punch. The gold and the greenie sound great on there own, so it's no suprise that they sound great together.
The Rx Jr has a ton of bass on tap. Both of these speakers have plenty of bass potential, but they aren't overwhelming, so that works out great. All of the top end you'll ever need is available with these two speakers. The cleans sound great, but I really love what the greenie does for overdrive tones.
As far as my favorite single speaker in the 1x12 combo - G12M Greenback, go figure! I'm not even sure it's completely broken in yet, but it still sounds great and will only get better. The greenie is not bass heavy like some of the speakers I've tried, although, there is plenty to spare. The top end is nice as well. Doesn't get fizzy with overdrive tones, yet the clarity is still there.
I also liked the Emi Private Jack, but it is more efficient and quite a bit louder. It's more 'in your face' aggressive than the greenie. The G12M will be loud enough for the majority of the places I play, and most of the time we are mic'd up anyways.
I would still like to try a Weber Silver Bell in ceramic and alnico, but until I can get around to ordering them or picking a few up used, I will be completely satisfied with the greenback!

Can't speak to the Jr but I recently traded my remedy to jaguarguy or his RX/ES.
We A/B'd my 1x12 open back cab loaded with a G12-65 with my 2x12 closed back cab w/Greenbacks and 2x12 open back can with a g12-h30 and g12-65.
The 1X12 G12-65 just blew away the other cabs. We were quite surprised. The difference was amazing.
I just picked up an empty Z-Best on the buy sell and another G12-65 off the bay and put 2 of them in the Z-best. Oh Yeah!
Just saying'.........

I'm playing mine through a Greenback. I'm running a 16 ohm Greenback at 8 ohms. I think the impedance mismatch (which should be safe) is lowering the power output a bit, and likely changing the feel of the amp. I tried and liked the amp through a V30 too. Am planning to play it through a Gold soon.

The gold is nice. I'm running mine through a greenback at the moment. Mostly because of the lower volume - 2db lower than the gold.

I'm going with the C Gold, Have used a Blue which I thought was really good but the Gold just seemed a bit more open and tighter in the bass. Tone controls were all set at 9 o'clock. Having said that I think you could get a good sound with just about any speaker you use with the Jr. I use a Paisley Drive and an old Punkifier I won about 25 years ago !! It has a great growl in it. I also have an RC Booster that I leave on all the time, just seems to add some thickness and clarity, hard to explain. The Jr is the only Z I have played, not sure about the others but I really like the Jr. A friend is getting a Maz Jr so will be interesting to compare them.

I have a Maz Jr that stays at my church. I like it, and its versatile, but the RX just has something I like because its my go-to gig rig.
