looking in to getting an EZG50 but want an amp that can cover everything from blues/blues rock to hard rock and reggae. Is the EZG able to cover harder edge pop and blues rock. I use pedals for dirt. Love SRV,Jeff Beck and Dire Straits as well but the band is playing some harder rock as well. Will the EZG50 fit the bill?

Chilicat, I have used an EZG-50 for some years now and I've played everything but metal on it. If you are using a good overdrive pedal you can set the amp with great clean sound with a little bit of "hair" on it and when you dig in with your pick it will sing. I've been able to get great Zeppelin and ACDC sounds out of the amp....granted I use an overdrive pedal and set my amp with a solid, round clean tone. Plus this baby is loud to boot! You gotta crank the shizzle out of it to get it to break up. Happy guitar slingin!

Thanks for the info, I'm too old to be a metal player anyway (and too fat!) We do a couple of 3 doors down songs and a heavy dual harmony guitar version of Paint it Black. I was I was a fender guy before my SRZ65 and Marshall guy before that. So The EZG50 sounds like it could be what I'm looking for. Still very satisfied with the SRZ65RC but as I mentioned getting a little old to lug a 70 lb combo out of the basement and out of the car at 2:30 in the morning!
