I used them years back, the .09 Guage, sound fine from what I remember, but I kept breaking B strings. Moved on to the GHS Nickels and havent looked back.

There is a signature model now? I am just using the plain old nickel rockers 11 guage on all of my guitars.

I've tried tons of different strings on my electric guitars. Snake Oil Strings are the best out there IMO. Vintage set for, well, vintage tones, and rock set for more modern tones. Vintage are perfect to my tastes. Tone is phenomenal, and playability stays good for a LONG time. Best part is I can use 11's on all my electrics and they bend as easy as other brands 10's.

I just put on another set of Vintage formula ,after using the first set for 3 months of heavy use. They never gave up, but after years of changing out every two or three weeks, I thought I better not push my luck. Very nice discovery.

Ok guys, help a rookie out. I found the EJ Nickel Rockers, but the SOS-nothing. Is this a nick name for the EJ's or is this another string that is elusive to google?

Im guessing thats [snake oil strings} SOS , I change my strings every night I play ,which boils down to 3 times a week, so far D Addario strings are what I use on all my guitars. Ive tried to get two night out of them but they are trashed after one night

Just ordered a couple of sets of the vintage SOB's in 2 different sizes. Emailed them and got a call back on Sunday! Had a nice visit. Come to find out, he used to live not to far from me. So we got to talk about all the issues facing northern California, etc. Let's see if my rookie ears and fingers can tell the difference...

It's never made much difference to me what strings, Ernie Ball, D'Adarrio, GHS, etc. I use so long as the gauges are correct. The biggest problem with strings, for me anyway, is breaking the high E and B strings. I can get two gigs out of a set, unless it's outside, but then the high strings will start to get fret kinks and want to break so I have to change them anyway. I seem to be indifferent to different types of strings so the different subtleties are lost on me.

Hey guys, I started purchasing my strings from webstrings.com. They buy directly from companies who actually wind the strings (there are fewer than you might think) and then slap their label on them. They don't advertise so you don't pay for that and there's no middle man. The more you buy, the cheaper they are. I just got 24 sets at $2.35 a set. And they stock 12's with the plain G. I have been more than pleased. The package isn't as pretty, but who cares? Chances are they the same strings you think are made by Ernie Ball or whoever. Check 'em out.

I emailed web strings two days ago and no response. I asked them if they would do custom sets. I've been buying .010 thru .052s and changing the .010 for a .011. What I really want is .0105, .012, .016, .028, .040, .050. Those are the gauges I asked for and no response. It's a hassle trying to make these sets up at the stores. It seems they're always out of one or the other strings so I'd like to just buy the sets or a group of singles at a time so I can make up my own. Anyone have any ideas?

hey billy have you tried the Rene Martinez strings from GHS?? I found them to be a simple fix seeing the G,B,E were in half sizes.

also if you go to any GHS dealer they can special order any set you wish to make. if you have a problem with this, from a store let me know and I will order them for you I am a dealer. I know what it is like to shop at the big stores where they just don't seem to know or care. if you look you can find my email.

This is an old thread but I've got something new to add. My last bulk order of strings ran up last week and decided to try the GHS nickel rockers. Since I tune in Eb, I bought the Lo-Tune set which is an 11 guage set that goes all the way down to a .058 on the low E.
Wow, I played 15 songs before I ever went out of tune. It was awesome. I think having that .058 on the low E really stabilized the neck. Not really sure of the technical application for why it worked so much better, but I guess whatever GHS has done to make them specifically for Eb tuning really works. Only bad thing is, they are kind of expensive at almost $5.00 a set. But they are pure nickel so I guess it's not a bad deal. Anyway, for those of you who tune low like me, I think they are worth a shot.
