what the Z-28's big brother??? Looking at the KT-45, the Route 66, and the Stangray, playing mostly blues and some classic rock.

They are all kin, of sorts. Same EQ layout. Same basic front end. Only difference is final voicing and power tube arrangement.
I'd think the KT is closer to the Z28 than the RT66 is. Z28 mids are growly, RT66 is more woof. Kt45 is similar to Z28, but is so loud when it actually breaks up!
I LOVE the KT45, I just have no use for something that loud!

I have spent some time with a Z28 and would say that the stangray is more like a bigger cousin. It is bigger, but it kinda fits into a different family of tone in my opinion. Having heard a z28 and a Rt66 side by side several times, I really think the 66 is like a big brother. The 66 can be warmer though.

Good input to an interesting question. I've not had the opportunity to own a Z28 but have played one for a few minutes and have heard them in action. Would it be too far out there to consider the Galaxie's Ch2 as more powerful step up from the Z28? The Galaxie's Ch1 has a tweed voice but still sounds fender'ish. I don't know how to compare Ch2 other that to say it reminds me of a cranked old marshall. Similar to a Z28 that's pushed hard.

Not at all. I can see how you might get from Z-28 to Gal-2.
