I was able to track down MY GALAXIE (no.3) in Washington state. I am getting her back. I didn't give the amp enough time before I sold it. I have been wanting back lately and now it's on it's way back.

Glad it's on the way back home...I enjoyed your Galaxie VERY much, but have been in a buy/sell/buy mode lately. Just acquired a Stang, but hwr57 is interested in it so... Among other things, this forum has provided many opportunies to swap, buy, trade and promote interest in Z amps with some very reputable folks.

Yeah - I'm pretty excited to get her back. Like I said, I didn't give it enough of a chance the first time around. The master volume thing is still a bone of contention but I'm gonna give it a chance anyway. I do remember it having some nice one-of-a-kind tones cry out of it. I could really use the cash as some of you may know because of my back situation. I will be out of work for at least another two years if I can ever work again. I just wish they would schedule the damn surgeries already. This waiting around bulls*** is just making things worse. Anyway... I hope to get the Gal' this coming week and renew the affair with it and my Maz. I am also kinda interested in the junior you guys have been talking about. And of course, another Route 66 is a must soon. The new ES-335 is incredible. I seriously have never played a better sounding, feeling, or looking guitar - mucht less owned one. Even though most of my equipment seems to be in a revolving door around me, I can securely say that the 335 is not getting out of my site - I love it!!! Just in case some of you missed it the first time around, here she is - her name is Esther: bilbal BTW - Tubeed, I couldn't get rid of that Suhr quick enough. It played and looked awesome but the sound coming out of it was deplorable to say the least - YUCK!!! I am not going to base my opinion of Suhr Guitars on that beast. I'm sure they make great guitars - as is obvious with the customer base. That guitar just wasn't one of the best by a long shot. I'd definitely look into buying another some day. As I said, the guitar was beautiful and was a killer player. I think the next is going to be a Soloway Swan and then it's gonna be all Gibby's from there.

Stuff like this makes for good reading. You're not the only one on the forum that trades in and out of stuff at a high rate of speed, however.
Congratulations on tracking #3 for a return to her original owner. I'm glad that you've decided to give the Galaxie more of a shot. I've been enjoying mine, but it's taken me a while to figure out that it covers a pretty wide range. No complaints, here.
Dibs on the 335 if you sell it. 8^)

Bill,
Yeah, I saw on the suhr forum you weren't too enthralled with the pickups on the pro S2 so I was wondering if you held onto it. I bought the twin to the one you had and I agree it's the best playing and most comfortable guitar I've ever owned but the bridge pickup is a bit anemic for my taste. I'll probably swap the bridge pickup out for something else eventually.
Hope the Galaxie works out the second time around!

I found out today the Gal' should be delivered back here, where it belongs mind you, on Saturday the 29th. I couldn't be happier as it has come at a great time. My MazSr head has some problems and I am sending it back to the Good Dr. for an overhaul. I suspect it is just a bad rectifier but since I have little to knowledge of these things, I contacted Dr. Z and he has agreed to take a look at it for me. So, in a short time I will have it and my Gal' back. I am planning on grabbing another Route 66 to replace the one I sold to forum member jwr and maybe a RX Junior by the end of the year. Who knows what next year will bring in the way of Z purchases? I have a couple others beside the ones I have listed for this year that I have been thinking about. It's crazy - this addiction to these amps I and you guys have. It is a lot of fun though!!!!
PS...I don't see the 335 going anywhere EVER!!! If it does find legs, you'll have first refusal Zim ;D

It has taken me some time to get used to nailing a set up with my Galaxie(zbest) and Stang-Ray (Blues) as I was used to gain/mater Volume amps. I am using a Little Alligator Volume pedal where you can set a min volume. Sounds crazy but it sounds different than attenuating the volume with the guitar pot and easier for me to control. If a want a little more grind with the Vol pedal at the min volume setting I kick in my RC Booster or Fulldrive2. Ed Yeah - I'm pretty excited to get her back. I'm going crazy waiting for this amp to show. It was suppose to be delivered on saturday but it was moved to tomorrow (tuesday) over the weekend for some reason. Now I have to wait for it to show up sometime between 8am and 8pm. I have been without an amp for about a week now cause my Maz's rectifier went on me (sorry for the language). I have it supposedly being sent this week. Hopefully by the end of the week, I will have both the Maz and my Gal' running and screaming with my new 335 and updated pedal boards. I can't wait!!!!! I may just go in a go to sleep and make tomorrow come that much quicker - LOL!!!!

It arrived in PERFECT condition. The gentlemen that had the amp while I was busy smartening up took great care of her. She's in the same shape as she was when I got her new.
I really do like this amp a lot. I am most happy with the clean channel and the way it takes pedals. It is such a pedal wh***. She'll take any of them and make them scream. I'm determined to learn how to use the second channel. As of now, I'm not even fooling with it. You guys have any suggestions on how to tame it, or what pedals to use to boost the drive without going deaf in the process? I'm big into pedals and don't even need the second channel but I would like to since it's available. The only thing I get out of it is a very loud version of the first channel without any cleans. I simply can't turn it up to experience the drive I know is in there. Is there a tube compliment or another way to get that wonderful overdrive/distortion that is waiting for me to use it. I don't even know how much gain is on tap. How do I find it short of cranking it. Like I said, I'll put different tubes in it if I have to and if that's recommended.

BB,
Give a volume pedal a try. As noted in a previous post I am using a Morley Little Alligator. Works great to tame #2 and then have it at your disposal for overdrive or solos.

I will try the volume pedal - thanks for the suggestion.
My Gal' has been behaving so nice and so badly when I ask her to. I am already having more fun with her this time around than I did when she was brand new. I definitely didn't give it enough time prior to selling it. Like I previously posted, I have been primarily using the clean side of the amp with pedals. Basically, I just get a beautiful, big headroom thing going and flavor it with my pedal boards. I couldn't be happier. It really sucks up pedals. I like to run her presence at noon, bass at noon, treble at around 1:00 and the volume between 9 and noon depending on if the family is home or not. I have been opening her up quite a bit the last few days and she obviously likes that.
I can't wait to get the MazSr's new rectifier and install it. As much as I have beeb enjoying my Gal, I really miss the Maz and it's capabilities. I have the best of both worlds with my girls.

Guys:
I have been dialing my Gal' in with my pedals since I got it back. The other day I introduced my MazSr into the rig. It was sweet but I'm starting to think that dual heads is waaaaaay too much. Especially hearing BW play out of the Gal' the last night. He had that thing cooking. I cannot imagine how loud it and the Maz together would have been. I am definitely not getting rid of the Maz but this Gal is more than enough amp for me. The second time around has proved to be a VERY GOOD thing. Maybe I'll get a switcher and A/B the Maz but I am not going to use them together anymore unless I have an outside gig or a large place where I need all that power.
Is anyone running a dual head rig or do most of you use a switching system to bounce back and forth between different amps? ToneBone still one of the best?
