Is the GT similar to the Monza as far as gain and attack and a higher wattage platform??? I have been studying this amp but never got to try out. Thanks for any help given

I think the GT is more touch sensitive - almost like the strings are directly connected to the amp! Not a real clean sound like the one I have been getting out of my Monza with MV mod and guitar volume turned down.

Similar? Yes, i suppose... They both have Z on the front, and in my case they are both red... The Monza is a red hot poker, the Mazerati is the forge that heated it..... a cauldron of liquid fire.... The Monza is more manageable for smaller rooms, a Mazerati GT is all but impossible to contain in a small space, and it's tone suffers terribly from attenuating devices,in my opinion. If you have a place where you can open it up, it is a wild ride. I have both, you are welcome to come down to Berea and try them anytime, but no one may buy it.

Attenuators do not work well for tone... Especially for the GT. Attenuators Mary be necessary for certain situations... But not as good as full out. I would suggest baffles in front of cab... I love this amp...the clean with the volume backed off.. And it's direct touch sensitivity with my Z-Best or my Mesa 2x12 sound awesome. Ed

I had hoped that the Monza would turn out to be a scaled down GT, but it was not to be. The GT has a bigger, bolder, clearer type of gain that I really like. I am sure that the Monza has its uses, but it was not the amp for me.

The GT is a beast, absolutely. Cracking the volume starts the amp's distortion. There IS no clean without your guitar's volume control. That's a good thing. Every time I played my GT when I had one people said it was the best I'd ever sounded.

I have never played a gt. But I have a monza and have studied the circuit And if the schematic I have of the gt can be trusted they are similar animals minus the two extra out put tubes. The drive knob controls a variable voltage divider and the gts is fixed. The tone control on the monza would effect tone some. But I suspect the biggest difference would be head room from the power tubes.

Ed Finally got around to posting my Mazerati GT recording experiment in the audio area. Lot's of talk about the Mazerati GT being a high gain machine...true...but backing off the Guitar volume gives good cleans.........
