I got my Maz 8 Studio in yesterday and I took it to my local mom and pop music store (Sound Vibrations) in Corpus Christi after work yesterday and unboxed it. I had told some of the guys that work there about it.
We were all floored. You can really hear all of the nuances of what each knob does. You can hear what the controls on your guitars do. When you step on the eq bypass, you can REALLY hear how the cut knob works...and how you can adjust the tone with just guitar knobs and your pickup selection.
We took it from clean to Voxey overdrive with a Tele, a Strat, and a Les Paul. This thing really shines with any guitar. It was almost unbelievably loud when dimed. It had tremendous warmth and depth both with the Brake Lite on and with it just opened up. I can't wait to really break in the speaker. You can actually feel the amp breathe so to speak.
There is good clean headroom. The reverb has a very nice chime to it. Just enough, and not a vabrato reverb...sounded awesome. I can't wait to put it through it's paces at a gig! It should be plenty loud enough to play with a band.
I didn't think you could top the Maz 18, but Doc....WOW! I'll be using this for years to come.

Thanks for the report. It's a great amp. Did you mess with the pentode/triode switch? I thought that added just a whole additional range to the 8. Wish mine would hurry up and get back from the Z repair shop

Didn't mess with that, I am pretty sure I was in triode mode. Very warm sounding amp.

Great report. Does it have enough bass? I only ask that because I've noticed the bass on maximum in some of the demos. Others have already reported that it does have plenty of bass, I was just interested to hear as many opinions as possible as I am planning to order one. Thanks.

That was actually one of the comments that one of the guys that works at the music store I took it to. We actually had it up on another amp...waist level...and yes, it had enough bass. Had the bass up to about 2 o'clock with the tele and strat...and it was plenty. With the LP, we had to back it down to about noon to keep it from being muddy.
