I could make it! I'm only 100 or so miles south of you. I'd bring a Route 66, Maz 8 and Z-best. Along with some choice pieces of wood to plug into them!

Ordered it with the H30 (wish it was the heritage) for now, though I'm seriously considering crafting a baffle to put a 10" red fang in that cab. I'm really liking the pair I have with the z-28. Unfortunately, I sold both the heritage and gold 12's recently.

Ordered just prior to Xmas from my good friends at Mass Street in Kansas. The Z boys were out til new years so technically, only been a couple of weeks. It ought to ship any time now... They didn't have exactly what I wanted in stock or on order.

I love the amp but I need some more time with it.

I love the amp but I need some more time with it. Imo it is different enough from a MAZ 18 that a pure copycat setting won't produce the same result. MAZ 8 is like another kid in the same family: highly similar DNA but unique in its own way.

I also succumbed! Black head with tan grill cloth instead of the black tolex front. Should be here in 4 weeks. I'll be running it into a 4x10 cab to start. Anyone else try this yet? If it doesn't work out I might order a smaller cab ...

Thanks. Can't wait. Here's a question. I've never had an amp with an effect loop. I have a pedal board ... see pic ... that I love. I put it right in front of my EZG with zero problems. Would I want to run my entire board through the effects loop? From what I've read the loop is mostly good for rack effects or delays, and not for entire boards.

You probably don't want to run your entire board in the loop. You can certainly continue to just go into the front of the amp as you've been doing. However, the loop may be preferable for some effects such as delay, etc. especially if you want to open the amp up to get it to overdrive. Think of it this way: you can have clean echoes that get distorted by the amp OR you can have echoes of an OD amp. Personally, I prefer the latter; running a delay or reverb into distortion boxes has never sounded good to me. As they say, though, YMMV.
If you experiment with the loop you may want to investigate a buffer. They're inexpensive and they help quell some issues that can crop up. Some of your pedals may already have buffers built in.
Haven't forgotten about the 4x10 question. I'm sure it will work fine and probably be quite loud. I'll try it today or tomorrow.

I would suggest putting your Timeline and Trem in the loop for the same reasons mentioned above. One nice feature of your Timeline is the option to run it true bypass or buffered, so you may not need a dedicated buffer. Drives will not sound good through the loop and vibes/phasers usually go in front of an amp as well. Nice board, BTW

Thanks guys. I will try it both ways. I think for the most of the time I am going to be running guitar to cord into this amp and using the EZG for my effects platform so it might not matter too much, but I was curious about it having never used one. I have been using the buffer in the Timeline. It's pretty great. Actually seems to make my board sound better than when I have it on true bypass.
Thanks for looking into the 4x10 sound ... I'm pretty curious about that too.
3.5 more weeks

I'm pretty curious about that too. 3.5 more weeks I make a snake for Maz 8, its 4 channels, one channel goes from the pedal board to the input on the amp, on channel of the snake is for the tone by pass switch (Patty modified my switch by adding a female jack in it for the snake to plug into), and the the last two channels are for send and return for the effects loop. the send and returns have my tremelo and Line 6 M9 running thru them, the rest of my pedals go to the front of the amp. I've noticed the effects are a little brighter sounding now having the trem and M9 thru the effects loop. Todd

Arrived today at my house here in England: Loving the Triode mode at the moment for some classic rock tones with the PRS. Haven't managed to plug the Strat into it yet, since I think classic rock is the best way to break in the new speaker
