I apparently had a tube issue in the middle of gig last week that took my Stang Ray out of action. I could swear I had less than 100 hours on the tubes in that amp. I'm wondering if there is some type of meter that could be placed in line with the 110 jack to show how many hours the amp has been turned on. It would be very helpful to me to be able to see how many hours I have on the tubes. Anyone know of a gadget like this? I seem to recall a similar meter on an OLD tractor my dad used to have - it showed hours of use. Something like this... www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200246424_200246424...but for a 110 power cord. Thanks.

Tubes are tubes are tubes..... No matter how reliable the seller is or how reliable the last set of (brand X tubes) was, the next batch may have a bad tube in it that will only last 3 shows before it craps out on you. The meter is a good idea to keep track of how long you use a new set of tubes, but you can't gauge how long a tube is good for by watching that meter. Some tubes will go way beyond the expectation, while some tubes will last only a fraction (or not at all).
Just my $.02 worth
