Pete, my guess is that it is also available in the "standard" combo cab identical to a Maz Jr as well as the cab that is shown in the pic

I appreciate that this is being marketed as "not just the little brother to the Maz 18, but a whole different amp." Very true, I think; and the comparatively higher price helps back that up. (Might also help protect the resale values of all the Maz 18's that we've got.)
I have always felt that separate heads & cabs were the way to go--still do, in fact. BUT, the whole concept, execution, features, etc. of this Maz 8 pretty much begs for the compact 1x12 combo. If you ever see me carrying around a Z-amp in "combo" format, it's gonna be this one.
Perfectly executed, good Doctor! Well played.

Oh yes, I want one of these little guys bad Added: decided not to over-think this. Just went ahead and pulled the trigger. Spoke with Jake at Humbucker and their first red one has my name on it. Yeah, baby. ;D Probably have to look at selling some stuff....

The Z site says the 2x10 is $200 less than the other combos. Either Doc has way too many 10s in stock or it's a misprint.

^^^
Good point. That's probably it.
Taking that into account the MAZ 8 appears less expensive than the MAZ 18. An 18 with 'verb is $1899 for the 1x12 (and 2x10). Add in $239 upcharge for the Cel Blue and you're well over the MAZ 8 price.
Put another way, for $50 more than the Jr. w/verb you get the Blue plus the pentode/triode switch and give up one EL84. (I'm sure there are other circuit differences as well.)
Seems pretty fair to me.

If I didn't have the Maz 18 I'd definitely go for one of these!

Keith here you go drzamps.com/pricing.htmlNo, that's the point I was making. The price list has the head on there and the specs mention the head as well. Where does it state that only a combo will be available at first (as the OP stated). Keith
