I have a blondie (that I am selling on the BST now) I frequently run wide open with my 8ohm open back cab loaded with a pair of 16 ohm blues and have never had an issue to date. You more than have it covered and have no worries my friend. Crank it up and move some air! Merks.

More and more, I'm thinking that the 5U4 is the rectifier tube for this amp. Glad Doc made the change over. 32 watts is plenty of power and I agree, you'd be fine with your cab setup with the G12M.
What is that formula for 2 or more speaker cabs and their wattage rating? I know it isn't the sum of the speaker's power handling ability. Isn't it something like the lowest wattage speaker multiplied by 1.5? Something like that... I'm sure someone will know. jw

Two 25W speakers have a rating of 50W.
A 20W and a 30W speaker together will have a rating of 40W, twice the rating of the lowest rated speaker... four speakers, four times the lowest rated, etc.
That assumes all speakers have the same impedance rating.

DC here! Also I would assume at least - that the full 32 or 50 or 40 watt rating is with the amp dimed on all controls - Volume, Treble Bass all dimed. Put them all at three o'clock - you will not be anywhere near the full wattage rating. Remeber this is a logarithmic thing - 3 dB + volume increase is equal to a raise from 20 to 40 watts - as an example. ( assuming the same amp and the same speaker config ) According Doc:s website the rating for the Route66 is 32 watts. www.drzamps.com/amp/route_66/That is with the GZ34 rectifier = aka 5AR4 Cheers: Dixiechicken!
