I gotta admit, I never gave the G12H a chance. The first week I had it I put a Gold in it just cuz I had it kicking around. Never looked back. This amp is a keeper for sure. Love the gold in it.
You like?

I'm really happy with the 2x10 combo. I have yet to plug the amp into other speakers. I bet it sounds amazing with the 4x10 or the Z Best.

I have the Jaz head going into a 2X10 cab. Very happy with it, so haven't tried anything else.

Same here - the Doc's 2x10 sounds mighty fine.

It seems alot of guys really like those 2-10 setups. Thats cool. Maybe some day I'll revisit 10's.
When I bought my first Z, a MAZ, I got the 4-10 cab for it. It was overkill for my volume needs, and heavy. I returned it for a 1-12 blue cab. I have a prety good collection of 12" speakers, so have continued along with 12" cabs.
But I remember that 4-10 bieng real "spanky" for lack of better words. Never did try a 2-10. Bet it sounds sweet.....

The G12H that Doc ships with it works well for a lot of the smaller rooms. Has some of the characteristics of a GreenBack in my opinion (the warmth/woodiness) but holds together the bottom better. Of course I have had the opportunity to run it with the 1x12 and 2x10 z cabinet and that was killer, would love to try it with a 4x10.

I hear what your saying about the G12H/Greenback comparison JD. I heard that too, mostly in the midrange. I liked that speaker just fine actually. But I have had good luck with the Gold in other Z's. So figured.... why not. Turns out I like it alot in the JAZ too.
One thing I remember most after putting the Gold in was it wasnt quite as bright, not a bad thing for me. Alot of that could be the Gold is broken in, and the G12H is was new.
Either was I likey. Me likey alot ;D
Since you have both the 2-10 cab, and 1-12 combo..... have you ever just ran the amp into the 2-10? What would you say the difference is between the two enclosures?

I have a 1x12 loaded with a red tone tubby. It sounded really nice. It definitely gave a darker tone but still had plenty of treble. I really liked it with my tele as it allowed me to use the bridge pickup without getting too trebly.

Got the 2 10s too and the tone is delicious! Punchy and articulate!

I've also used one of Todd's (PCNS) parallel "y" cables to run my 1x12 Gold and my Z 2x10 through the 4ohm tap on the JAZ. Pretty nice, and almost equal in output - side by side.
