Just bought another Mazerati 1x12 in red from a fellow Z-Talk forum guy to go with my first one. Running them in stereo, all I can say is...WOW! Been playing over 30 years and this tone is about as good as it gets. Thanks Fiestared69 for helping me complete my tone. THE SEARCH IS OVER ;D

Anyone ever try Maz 38 NR and Maz GT in stereo??? I haven't found an amp yet that plays well w/ my GT in stereo (although I haven't tried a MAZ 38 NR). When I roll back the volume on my guitar, the GT stays strong and loud, but any other amp I've paired it w/ drops too much in volume. The GT is (probably) my favorite amp, but I love a stereo rig, and I haven't found an amp that can hang w/ the Big Dog. Back to the subject... I bet two Mazeratis sound stellar in stereo. My V2 Mazerati pairs well w/ my other Z's (except for the GT). I really like it w/ the Galaxie.

Why do people seem to strongly emphasize "V1" or "V2" when talking about their Mazerati's? Is there that vast a difference between the 2 versions that we must specify the version? Are some wearing this like a badge of honour to maybe suggest that one is better than the other?

The Version 1 Mazerati has different transformers and breaks up alot quicker than the Version 2 with bigger trannies !

And there is quite a difference between V1 & V2 as Fiestared69 stated. I would love to own both. I don't think either would be "better" in the grand scheme of things,... perhaps better suited to a particular style or sound. The V1's are a little more scarce. It was supposed to be a "double Ghia." It breaks up much quicker on the volume knob then the V2. I guess some do take pride in owning a V1 as some Marshall enthusiasts take pride in owning an original Plexi. There's a story somewhere (and I may have it all wrong... ) where Brad Paisley had Doc convert his V1 to V2 specs, only to have it later reconverted back to V1 specs. To me, that says a lot about the differences.

I've never played a V1 so I wouldn't know the difference. But it sounds like I got the right version I guess (V2) as my ultimate goal is always maximum clean headroom. If that is the only difference (V1 Less Clean) then to me that isn't really much of a differnce. You could attain a a V1 by putting an airbreak on a V2 if that is what you wanted. My aim is not to try and emulate Brad Paisleys tone so it doesn't matter to me what version he prefers. I do love my Mazerati regardless of what version it is.

I believe there are some other subtle differences besides earlier breakup. I'm w/ you on the Paisley tone. In fact, I'm not much of a fan of country music at all (although I do respect a few of the country players and their abilities). I picked up my V2 Mazerati for it's clean tone. Most of my other Zs are known more for their overdriven sounds, and I was looking for more of a clean platform. The V2 delivers. And I was pleasantly surprised at it's overdriven sounds when I Airbrake it and get the volume up over 3:00. It's a fantastic amp. I'd like to give the V1 a try just to hear the differences and how it responds to my playing.

The "V1" is the only Z I own for now, and it's truly is a great amp. I speak from years of owning many, many different amps. When I bought my Rati I had no idea there was two different versions. I liked what I heard and saw she is a sexy mama. It reacts to my playing and the sound is silly good. Upon my arrival here I PM'd the Doc and he told me the story of the two different versions. It was very cool of him to do that. He also asked if I would post a gut shot. If I remember correctly he was contemplating a release of the V1 again. This was a while back so perhaps plans changed. I have tried a V2 Rati and FWIW like the V1 better again this is just personal preference. It can get mean but also has a nice harmonic chime that I can't get enough of.
