Just picked up an LE number 8, this amp is mean! I usually hit the front end pretty hard with a MXR microamp. I was just wondering if anyone else plays this amp with more gain? I'm not talking about modern high gain. More like 80s metal gain.

Even with the gain on tap with the SRZ, it takes additional pedals well. Sometime I run mine with the gain near noon, then kick on an OCD for the smoother more sustaining leads. Without the od on, I can roll off my vol on the guitar and get some cleaner tones.
Congrats on the new amp.

Same. LE #35 with gain at noon, front gets hit by a Wampler Black 65 on low gain settings for a tad more juice and an AC booster when required. Works great!

I went from a modded mercury magnetics JCM 2000 DSL, to the SRZ. I can't believe what i've been missing. On the DSL i had to set the gain pretty high to "feel" and hear the tone I wanted, But then ended up with more gain then i wanted for the band i play in. With the SRZ I don't have to play with as much gain as i did with the DSL and I could get the tone i wanted for both my ears and fingers. It's weird, my fingers want a real high gain sound, but my ears do not. Kinda hard to explain what i mean. Hopefully you guys understand.

I had one of.the firstDSL 100 IN M,Y AREA in 98' i sold.it within 4 mos and nevr even ayed the SRZ BUT A GREAT PRO GUITAR PLAYER TOLD ME BUY ONE YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED?? I BOUGJT IT AND ITS BEEN A GO TO AMP EVERY SINCE. WETHER GOING THROUGH a 1x12 or. A 4x12 its an Amazing amp. Makes me smile evrytime i play it. I use a timmy and keep on just for added twxture and sustain bht keeping the natural tone of my guitar hands and the amp. Gain is always never past 2 oclock useing the vol knob to control cleans:)) congrats

Its like a freaking revelation to me or something. I had it in my head that the SRZ was all about the hi gain - WRONG! Its all about the tone man, THE TONE! Jamie, you are so right about using the MV and lowering the gain. I'm punching mine with a badgerflex now, holy cow! clean to mean with the roll of my volume knob. WICKED!!!! Thanks to you, by the way. Karma!!!!!! +1 Matt

Huge tone when the master is just above noon, Gain is just above noon and presence just above noon. That is if you can take the volume
