I've just read a few of the threads here in ratiGT Land. I see that a convertable 1x12 Gold gets good reviews. What are some of the thoughts about the right cabinet for ratiGT? Open vs Closed? AlNiCo vs Ceramic? Any chance that someone has experience and thoughts on ratiGT/Tone Tubby?

I, personally, am not a big fan of AlNiCo speakers w/ the GT (however, I admit I have never tried a TT w/ it). I do have a 12" Celestion Gold, Weber AlNiCo Silver 10"s, and some Weber AlNiCo Blue Pups all in Z Convertible Cabs.
I like my GT w/ ceramic speakers. When I'm using my GT, I'm usually driving it pretty hard (Vol well past noon), and the AlNiCos compress too much, getting a little flubby.
My favorite speaker set-up for the GT is a Vin 30 and G12H-30 in a 2X12 closed-back cab. Two G12H-30s sound very nice, too. A surprise to me was a pair of G12-T75s in a stock Marshall 1936 cab. It sounded pretty good. A Vin 30 alone w/ the GT was too much midrange in my opinion. The GT is a very midrange-y amp. Pairing it up w/ a speaker that is very midrange-y is too much of a good thing. The more "scooped" G12H-30 and G12-T75 evens things out some.

Had a happy accident over the weekend. Ran the GT through the Z/Scumnico 2x12 that i built for my Stangray. To my ears ithe tone is darn near perfect. All the frequencies come through and it tames the volume quite a bit. Jammed for hours with the volume at 10 o’clock and though loud not paint peeling loud. And with that hint of sqishiness to the notes, relentless power tube distortion but not as in your face as running it through greenbacks. I’ve really got Alnico fever of late.
