I see in this forum people always ask about what amp sounds like this and that. Some are looking for a Marshall sound from their Z, some want a Fender or a Vox tone from their Z. I know Dr.Z wants the Z to sound like a Z. Since the Mazerati has the most simple tone circuit of volume and tone and usable range of 10-2 on the tone knob, what amp does the Mazerati try to emulate in your opinion? Iy seems like the Mazerati is mostly for a clean sound. It seems that the time a Mazerati breaks up for some distortion it's insanely loud and people are yelling at you.

I've read somewhere that it's loosely based on the normal input of an AC30. I could be wrong, and usually am, but that's stuck in my head.

My version one breaks up at just before noon with the 12ax7, 5751 combo. With two 5751's a bit later but with the Air Brake it is killer. Chime, smooth, warm, articulate sound that I've never been yelled at for. I can achieve most any "sound" with pedals in some cases.

I have a version 2 and it's my favorite amp. Even though it may be the most simple Z amp, I find it is very versatile and has a unique sound. It's thick all the way up the neck. I can use it for country, blues, rock and with a good pedal even metal!! Always wondered why they discontinued it!!
