Hey guys, Got a blonde Galaxie 2x10 combo on the way. I have a Maz 18 NR 2x10 combo (lil too bright , lil harsh and not enough gain when needed) but have had a hard time bonding with EL84's. I've always loved the 6L6 sound but couldn't find one with the right heavy gain sounds too. I hope the Gal is the amp for me!!

Congrats!!! The Galaxie would definately be my next Z amp. It's one loud amp sucker though - louder then the Maz NR, especially with 140w of Z's 10" speakers (what I have in my Z cab right now and they sound amazing). Its interesting that you've found the Maz a little too bright, even with your LPs that I see you have, but that's a different discussion for a different section Cheers Ben

Thanks guys. I've had the privilege to play every vintage BF Fender out there and as you know the cleans are to die for. But I love to rock too!! Gov. Mule/Warren Haynes, Bonamassa, Billy Gibbons, that big Marshall tone. The Maz is OK at both since it can be a lil of everything. I owned a Monza combo, no cleans obviously. I'm hoping the Galaxie will be both for me. If I bond with her, I'll probably send it off for the MV mod soon. I've also have lots of NOS tubes and some different 10" speakers to plug and play. Items I've bought along the way to try and bond with the Maz. I've tried a couple Soldano combos but they don't have that magic dust that the Doc sprinkles on his amps(read that phrase on the forum)!! I'll keep ya posted.

I have a feeling you're going to like the Gal a lot.

The Gal's a great amplifier. I go back and forth between the Galaxie and the Mazerati GT being my favorite Z. The Gal has some absolutely amazing tones between those two channels. The MV mod makes it even more versatile. If you haven't, check out some of T-ROCK's audio clips on the Audio page. His stuff convinced me that I needed a Galaxie. You'll love this amp.

Get some duct tape to wrap around the house so your doors, windows and walls don't blow off. You will love the Gal... especially if you can crank it !!! Let us know what you think.
