anyone played with an air brake vs a brake lite for tonal differences?
I know with my Monza, the tone gets a little squished sounding if I run my brake lite past 2.

They are basically the same design. The components on the Airbrake are a bit larger, and the click points are slightly different, but you will notice the same effect with the Airbrake as you notice with the Brake Lite, if you notice such an effect.
I have the click points on the cabs link in my signature if I'm remembering correctly...

Ditto that; I have both and tonally I've never detected any difference.

anyone played with an air brake vs a brake lite for tonal differences? I know with my Monza, the tone gets a little squished sounding if I run my brake lite past 2. I have been using the brake lite for years and this week my friend brought over the air brake. We where able to A/B them together. We both agreed that the brake lite sounded brighter and more compressed especially after 3 clicks on the brake lite. The brake lite at 4 compared to the air brake on 4 too me was where I noticed a significant tonal difference. The air brake sounded warmer and more organic just really fatter sounding. I know what you are saying Todd when you describe that squished tone. With the air brake and even at the bedroom setting you can adjust the bedroom level on the air brake at about 2 o oclock and still get a nice warm fat sound even at lower bedroom levels. Even comparing the brake lite at 4 and the air brake at 4 we noticed a more high end compressed sound coming from the brake lite. Keep in mind I only use my brake lite at home. In a gigging situation I would prefer the brake lite mainly for its compact size. For home use I would def pick the air brake and that is what I did. I traded my friend a pedal for the air brake! Sold my brake lite! In all honesty either one works fine. In my honest opinion I really feel that the air brake does sound better and more natural to me and that is what helped me make my choice between the two. This is just my opinion and I am in no way an expert on tone. We all hear things differently. I did hear what you where describing though Todd. My brake lite sounded the same way.
