Ok, I'm thinking hard about getting a Galaxie to replace my Maz. I have a Maz 18 NR 2x10 w/tone bypass and as much as I love it I am missing the Fender Blackface cleans. I push my Maz pretty hard in the distortion area with a near cranked FlyinDragon OD pedal and adjust my guitars volume to clean things up. My only complaint is the Maz has that Voxish/Marshall midrange thing that I find myself trying to dial out. I know that is the magic element of the Maz. But I just find myself not bonding 100% with the tone. I just want the best of both worlds. Fender Blackface and Joe Bonamassa/Warren Haynes soarin leads. Is this what the Galaxy does? How does the Galaxie chan. 2 gain compare to the Maz NR higher gain setting? Any advice would be appreciated!!

I have both amps, and both have a thing I like. Neither does BF Fender cleans, though. Galaxie Ch2 is fatter and I'd say more gain available than what I hear in the MAZ18 NR. The tweed super that is the basis for the Galaxie is fizzier than the MAZ.

I believe the EZG-50 is the most BF-like of Doc's lineup. I don't own one, nor have I played one --sure want to -- but the demos seem to confirm that. You might also investigate the Jaz 20/40. Again, no personal experience.
