Hi all! I'm a newbie to the forum, but have been a huge fan of Dr. Z amps for a long time now....
Here's a question for you! Anyone ever A/B a JAZ with a Swart Atomic Space Tone? I'm curious what the thoughts were on this? They've both got very similar features... Let me know what you think!
p.s- I'll post this in the "other mf amps" section too.

I have a Z-28 and a SRZ-65, and I also own a Swart AST. The Swart does not have the magic that all the Z's seem to have. I would say the Swart is more in the Fender camp. It is a nice portable amp with great reverb and tremolo; but every time I use it on a gig, I am sorry I left the Z-28 at home! Just my opinion................

Well I posted this in the "OAM" section to Rad's question.
"Would think that the Jazz has a lot choices for sound. Have you played the AST? To me like my ST-R your really just adjusting the high end with the tone nob on the AST. Yeah it changes it some but not like Maz front end."
Reading that again the guys at Swart might be mad at me. While the tone nob does that it also changes the beefiness of the amp once your in breakupville.
Yes the AST is in Fender Land, but also it's many moons away from the Z-28 which has that Z sound added in to a Fendery thing. It doesn't have the same volume, nor the same amount of gain, same feel to the gain. Z-28 is darker and will never get into Twin bright cleans.
Your gonna get more over all tonal options with the Jazz thanks to the Maz front end. I would have to guess the verb and trem is really good on the Jazz also. The AST verb & trem is one of the best. You should be able to have a ton more headroom on the Jazz. A good med/semi-hot output bucker on the AST will drive it at noon on the volume pot.
The AST has that sound and lot of people are recording it and using them mic'd for live use. Small light weight loud enough for small clubs and reasonable volume bands or home use. I will say I hate the nobs on the back.
Jazz headroom volume and I'm sure great flexable tone. Not so small or light, but some amps are like that.
Been playing my Swarts almost two years straight and I'm ready for a new tone. Thinking super gain Marshall. A GT or something like that should do, but no way in hell am I gonna sell my Swarts.
