I was surfing through the Glendale Guitar website and was looking at their blackguard telecaster. Man, that thing looks beautiful. I was wondering if anyone in here had any experience with those guitars.

Love the crackled finished on it.
If it's as good as it looks, for $2600 or so, it could compete with the best of 'em I'm sure.
I for one wouldn't mind getting another Tele!

I'm thinking long and hard about getting one myself. I've got a couple guitars and a mini I could unload to raise the funds.

Dale Clark makes great stuff. That's a partscaster I built using a glendale neck, chimemaster, neck plate and Amalfitano pups, the neck is amazing to play, hear and look at.

That's a pretty piece of wood. That neck is very nice and works great with 11 guage strings. But as I have learned more about setups over the time I found the fretboard lacks the required amout of relief, it's straight as an arrow unloaded and with the truss rod open, I only realised this when I recently switched to 9s to see if I like them. While this might be a one off issue for a parts sale, I doubt this would happen on a complete guitar put together by Dale himself. To Fix this issue I'd have to get the fretboard replained, go with an oil finish for just the finger board, refretted to taste. That would make it pefect for me as I really do love it's nocaster big but boat shaped neck profile. All this only after I get my EJVT which in theory to me is what I think I'd like. Having said all that I wouldn't be surprised if I end up asking Dale to build me a great blackguard, for some reason I still have a lot of faith in a Glendale custom.

In keeping with the current trend of zombie threads......here is another!! Fresh from 8 1/2 years ago.. I've been putting Glendale bridges & saddles on all my Tele's. Always wanted one of his full guitars. I spoke with Dale yesterday about what I wanted. I have one of his "Raw Deal" Tele's with a Humbucker at the neck on order with him as of yesterday. He let me pick out an already finished neck which is a magnificent thing of beauty! I also picked a Paulownia that he will finish in Raw Deal Butterscotch...... More in a few months.. The above link didn't seem to work.... but here is a newer link : glendaleguitars.com/guitars/

Got the Glendale in the house....again today. It arrived Wednesday, but the nut was not cut to my satisfaction. I guess he set up to his liking. The action was super duper low and I couldn't play it. I raised it at the bridge but it was too low at the nut too. I took it to my luthier and had him make a new nut for it. NOW.....the guitar is a flippin' MONSTER!!!! So lightweight and resonant. The neck is large, but not uncomfortable. It has more low end than my other Tele's. Not sure if that's the pickups or timber. I guess it's a sum of all. Photo's coming soon....maybe a ZMaster clip!!
Dale Clark went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. He paid for the new nut. What a guy. Highly recommended!!
