I might be trading into an Rx Jr. Those of you who own one, or have played one, would you describe the tone as more Voxey or more Marshally or??? Hows it's compare to the Carmen Ghia? Thanks Bob

i'd say it's a happy marriage of both vox and marshall. You can get some nice voxey chime and sparkle and marshally grind depending on the speakers you use and where you have the channel volume. The Doc has really given the amp the best of both worlds.

I'm not sure if this is any help but I had a Ghia for a number of years, sold it once, bought it back and swore I'd never sell it again. Then I bought an Rx Jr and everything changed! If you can afford to have both then keep the Ghia but once I had the Rx Jr I realized that the Rx Jr was far more versatile. Louder, master volume, foot switchable boost, etc. But what really did it for me was the tone, thanks (I think) to the EF86 tube. Everything you've read about the jangle and sparkle that it adds is true. So, my Ghia is gone and so far no regrets!

Hey, I'd like too throw my 2 cents in here as well. I think the tone really changes depending on your setup. When I first got my JR. I used a barber overdrive LTD in front and I thought it was very Fendery Marshall tone. Then I switched to a barber small fry and the voxy dumble side came out of the amp. It's very versatile depending on pedals. I'm using H30's with it and that has a fendery affect on the amp. I did try some blues and it was a bit more voxy though. It is a pretty bright amp. Much brighter than Brad's on the DVD.

throw a 5751 into V1, and you can have all the Voxy chime you need, especially with a Cel Blue. Then, crank up the volume and get all the Marshall you want......It truly is the best at this. I miss mine dearly.
