I know the KT is a strong amp, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried this amp with a 1x12 loaded with the G12-65? How does this speaker respond to the KT? With the lower efficiency of the G12-65, would I be able to drive the amp harder for more of that classic rock break up tone? Just curious.

Haven't tried the g12-65, but I'm all for lower efficiency speakers with the kt45. Generally use 210 with greenbacks (95ohm) or golds (98) or the combination. Sound great with all. I probably prefer the 2 greens or the combo more than the 2 golds. (2 golds are favorites in the el84 amp).

Yeah, you'll be able to run a KT45 a little harder (to get the same volume) since the efficiency is less than say a G12H30.
I run my closed-back Bogner cube 1X12 with a G1265 speaker & use this cab frequently with my 6545. I'm a huge fan of the G1265 as it's the closest higher-watteg cousin to the greenback in the celestion line (IMO) - so you get a little of that speaker breakup & midrange honk going on with a better bottom end.
The only downside of the G1265 is that the low end bottoms out pretty quickly, so if you run the low tone control above 3:00, you'll get a fair amount of breakup in the lower registers - especially if you run a solid state rectifier vs. a 5AR4 rectifier tube. Running a 5AR4 feels like it cuts a little of the volume as well, but the low end is not as tight.
The KT45 side can get a little gritty with the G1265, but you're still at fairly high volume levels when the grit starts to kick in (prolly around 11:00-12:00 on the volume knob with the tones set at or above noon) - The 45 side has a little less clean headroom than a G12H30, but it's still not what I would consider "early breakup" in terms of volume level - more like "earlier breakup".
Overall, a single G12-65 one of my fave setups for both sides of the 6545. I guess I prefer running a 2X12 with greenbacks (especially for the 65 side), but the 1X12 with a G12-65 is a very close second & a 1X12 is much easier to haul around - prolly why the 1X12 gets the call more often than the 2X12 with greenies. I do like running lower efficiency speakers with the 6545 as it can be a beast in terms of volume.
