I've been waiting for almost two months for an EZG-50 combo through my local dealer. Does it really take that long? I think this is the longest I've waited for a piece of gear since I forgot I was on the KOT wait list.

I think this is the longest I've waited for a piece of gear since I forgot I was on the KOT wait list. That depends on the dealer, demand, etc. Up here in Canada, I order my stuff through Long & McQuade and the typical wait is about 10 weeks through there. It can also matter how long the dealer waits after taking your order before they actually order from the factory? probably best to check with your dealer. Keith

Yeah, some dealers are taking your order and waiting a few days or weeks to ACTUALLY order any amps. Sucks, but that is the nature of the beast. I have one and it was worth the wait- approx. 6 weeks. But that was through a huge Z dealer so, I was figuring that was kind of fast.

local aint what it used to be.what is local? i am smack dab in the middle of the country, so in the past if i wanted a z amp i asked humbucker or wilcutts or fat sound "how long do i have to wait" then go from there. i realize it is nice to support your local store but how long do you want to wait? when we had a fender dealer here years ago (you have to have a quota of monthly sales to be a fender dealer or they wont waste time with you), i worked at the place and the fender rep would come in at the end of the year after he had been to all the big places and we got the "second" run of stuff. they always got the new stuff last. if you want it now you gotta go where its at.

I'm fortunate to have Alpha Audio Works in nearby CT for a local Z-Amps dealer. 20 minutes away. I call them or email, (calling is much more fun) and usually within a couple of hours I know if it's a 1 week wait or an 8 week wait. I already have what they would stock, so I always have to order and I'd say the wait is typically about a 3 week average. Not bad at all for a hand-wired amp! Could I get it elsewhere faster?... Yep, but being a business owner I like to support my local guys and they like taking good care of me and their other customers. I like walking in and opening the box right there and checking out my new amp... then while we test it, others come in and drool, so it helps out the cause all around!
Every so often I do a slug of Makers Mark for some of the Willcutt customer service stories!

I think this is the longest I've waited for a piece of gear since I forgot I was on the KOT wait list. back when I ordered my first Z, the wait was what seemed like an eternity .... but when I finally got it and cranked it up ... the wait was worth it .... and, every time I've ordered a Z amp since then, I get that same bit of impatience, that is always rewarded on delivery day hope you see and hear you EZG50 soon enuff, eh cheers always, eh Joel

Got it today. Looks like it will be going BACK to the shop tomorrow. Getting all sorts of weird noises - including an octave-down, synth type sound. NOT a real happy camper at the moment.

Now the weirdness has gone away. Going to step away from the ledge and come back to it tomorrow. See what's going on. Sounds AMAZING, now here's hoping there's not a ghost on the machine.
Maybe a tube that just needed to heat up?

Tried it again later in the evening. Same thing, got a weird octave-down, synthy sound on low notes - then it went away after awhile. Seems to me like a tube thing that calms down after the tubes heat up. Going to start a separate thread on trouble-shooting this.
