I'm looking for a good buffer so I can drive two or three amps at the same time without loading down my pickups. I don't use any pedals so a good OD is out of the question. I have been looking at the VHT Valvulator or maybe the zVex Super Hard on. Both have two outputs.

If I were in your position, I would have the Voodoo Lab Amp Selector. Check their website. It's got 1 or 2 inputs and 4 outputs, selectable independently or in "priority" mode, (like one at a time), although I think you can mix modes as well. Each output has a stomp switch and a buffered output volume control.
'Nuff said. Voodoo Lab makes great quality products, I've been using their Pedal Power 2 for a while now.

Those volume knobs seem strange to me. If it were set too high it seems it would boost the signal. You would have to work with them to get the correct "amp straight in" signal. I'll have to do some more research on it. The Accexx Electronics BS2 also looks cool. www.axess-electronics.com/

Steve,
I did some research on the Voodoo Labs Amp Selector. Pretty cool pedal. I think it is just what I need. Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to try & get one soon. Thanks.

Those volume knobs seem strange to me. If it were set too high it seems it would boost the signal. You would have to work with them to get the correct "amp straight in" signal. That's what a buffer is doing, making up for signal loss. It needs to buffer the output, especially since it is being split into as many as four outputs. Boosting the output with a device like this would be very clean & neutral, you have the option to boost it a little bit. If he's only using 3 amps, he could get a 2-1 combiner box and use it to switch between a "straight in" sound from one output and a "boosted" sound from an output set higher on the output, probably to a main lead sounding amp. You could have those two outputs in "priority" (one at a time mode) to switch between and have the other two amps (clean & leslie, say? or something) set to be layered in independently. There are a lot of options. My switching system I just ordered from WOBO has two buffered outputs for my amps, each with a similar volume knob to control output. You would possibly want to adjust that setting depending on the length of cable and desired sound from the amp. I probably will set it to the lightest of boosts, where my clean still sounds clean (if it ever was completely clean with my amps, but you get the picture- it's all relative), then do the rest with the Hellbaby, Hotcake and after this weekend, Hellbilly. There are a ton of options. I could even run the tuner output straight to a DI box for a uber-clean sound... not that I would want to. I will post about the switching system when it arrives and I get the pedalboards wired up, if there is any interest. It is a weird one!
