www.tonefactor.com/proddetail.php?prod=hellbillyI'm really curious about this pedal, as it's got a NOS NKT Germanium transistor and is intended to have a range with a germ fuzz face at one end and a rangemaster treble booster at the other end. Both of these sounds (and especially the space between them) seems VERY appealing to me. Even if it doesn't have a 9v DC jack, I can use the Pedal Power 2's "variable power output" jack to give it a low flow, and I think it would be great after my Crybaby and in front of the Hotcake... I have the option to neutrally boost the signal last in the chain with adjustable buffered outputs as well... I think this might help cover all of my bases! Anybody else try one? It's got good reviews on Harmony Central, but I still can't tell if it has an adaptor jack or not... -Steve

Hi Steve, I have left quite a few glowing reviews on the Hellbilly around this forum. I use it primarily for fuzz flavors and it sounds awesome with my Route 66. I've used it for everything from Cream and Jimi, to Lenny Kravitz to Queens of the Stone Age. Yes it has an adaptor jack. You will probably have to experiment a little to find the right spot in line on your board for you but it is a fantastic pedal. Just a side note: For a relatively cheap or poor mans Eric Johnson tone recorded, the Hellbilly into the Mini Z produces a great likeness. I think EJ has told Tonefactor that he digs the pedal too. Now if that is not a stamp of approval, I don't know what is!!!
Good Luck.

Have you tried to get any Rangemaster/Beano/Boost type sounds out of it on the Rangemaster side of things?
Hmmm... it's very much looking like I have added one of these to the list...
Thanks
-Steve

Yes I have, and it sounds fantastic, it even got me playing some old Black Sabbath when Iommi was using the rangemaster! Not everyone's cup of tea I realize. I primarily bought it to cover my fuzz needs so the tone control rarely gets above 11 oclock on my pedal. Mind you, just about every pedal I've put in front of the Route 66 sounded good so I may not be the most objective opinion. But for the price I don't think you can lose with this one. Hell-cool.

I haven't had very different results with using pedals into the Ghia, except for pedals that provide the entire sound rather than working with the amp. These are usually pedals that people use with inferior amps, or just at volumes where the power section is not doing much work, so the effect is completely different. The Ghia seems to like most pedals, or at least you can find settings on most pedals that the Ghia will like. It definitely likes the HotCake and clean boosts! Also the wah and everything else. I am really jonesing for the Hellbaby and Hellbilly now. Arg.

I actually bought mine from G'olpeachphan who is a Ghia user and loved it with the ghia so I don't think there are any problems there. He also had a Java boost so he didn't need it anymore. Also I read that the Hellbaby has been discontinued so you'd better grab one fast! There is a cool gold vein limited edition Hellbilly avaliable at the moment also. Germ out!!

Thanks for the kind words, tasweigan. Lots of Z users seem to love the 'Billy. I need to get a Z to see for myself.

Hey, only credit where credit is due. It is an awesome pedal in my subjective opinion. I haven't even mentioned how well it is made! I would recommend it to anyone looking for that kinda thing. As for the z amp thing, try it through a 66 or even a mini. It sounds fabulous through the mini. Records REALLY well. I sure it sounds fab with all the Z amps but I think maybe especially with the EF-86 based amps. I would LOVE to hear it through a very loud Delta 88. Richie Blackmore time!!!!

It's a great sounding little box. I use it in front of my Mazerati - I really like the range of fuzz - from a dark/deep growl, to classic rangemaster treble boost.
I have an intermittent short in it though, that I'll have to take a look at - when I press the switch, the light comes on, but no signal when engaged - bypassed is ok, but no sound on the other side. If I step on it a few times (sometimes hard), it will work.
But otherwise, great pedal! I've always gotten great response from unkleslam regarding inquiries - and shipping is super fast! Highly recommended (at least by me)
hope this helps.

Thank you very much - not expected at all. Just goes to show you that you can get high quality service w/ high quality products, at reasonable prices (just like Z amps!).
By the way, that Analogue Filter of yours is great - just received it and I'm loving it.
