I'll make this short, its a great pedal! I had to tweak it for my taste I found that it worked best for me with the vol at 3 O'Clock and gain at 9 O'Clock which doesn't surprise me as I always do the same thing ,maybe not as drastic on all other ODs. the harmonic overtones are very pronounced with my relic strat and even more on the Les Paul. this pedal loves volume!!. mo better. I can see why Robbin Ford loves this one , it don't jack with your chords. I look forward to the Zen 2 I have on order. I would guess all these pedals will be collector's items some day.

Thanks for the review. Mines been on order 6 weeks and I'm told it could be 2-4 more...and this was before Wilma hit Alf's house! No telling how long now, but I'm in no hurry really.

Bluzsteel,
If I recall correctly you own both an OCD and now the Zen. I have an OCD and really like lt for when I what to put just a little hair on my Maz 38 (OCD is set to Drive 9:00, Tone 11:00, Volume to unity when my Maz is set for moderate clean). If you would be kind enough to give us your views on how the two compare it would be much appreciated.
As a special added one time only offer I will buy you ONE beer the next time I see you play.
Thanks

The clips of the Zendrive sound very good. I can see why you like it! You've got good taste, my friend! I thought the OCD was flat and dry. Didn't sound amp-like to me at all.

I bought a Zendrive and really love the tone. I would describe it as a smooth, Dumble like tone, with a medium-long sustain with humbuckers when the gain is maxed. It also does a great job at making my Strat's Fralin Blues bridge pickup sound like a humbucker with the tone rolled off a bit. No super, super long, sustain with single coils though, but still has some singing sustain. It does thicken the tone of your original signal, but in a nice, very amp like way. Very Robin Ford sounding.
I used to have a Stampede SOV-1, which is considered to be one of the best Dumble type sounds, but the Zendrive feels more amp like with less of a steely/brittle sound. The SOV costs $275.00. Zendrive $150.00 and takes up less than half the space.
For light to medium dirt/breakup without much tonal change, I prefer the new Barber Silver Direct Drive.
Both of these pedals work great with my Maz Sr.

I would love to try a Zendrive against the Hotcake, as the experiences I see here are similar to how I feel about this pedal after trying 7 or 8 high end pedals about 5 years ago. Anybody try both? The hotcake is almost more of a boost than distortion, but you can color the boost with some grit, while maintaining presence and a "clear" quality to playing and chords.
