Well I must take some recent statements back. As I told all how I dislike the brakelite and every other attenuator. Upon all your advise I gave it another shot and found I really like the brakelite with the MAZ. One or two clicks really helps keep the Zwatts in check. So should I decide to try one on my higher wattage amps, I need the air brake. Whould the results I get with the Brakelite be comparible to the AirBrake? I also have a THD hotplate and that device is why I was always skeptical of attenuators. That thing sounds like a swarm of africanized killer bees in a tin coffee can. So basically if I have grown to like the brakelite, will the airbrake offer any susprises? Thanks as always and sorry about the whole anti-brakelite rant. Just looking to drop the overall volume a tad.

Other than the rheostat that comes into play with Bedroom level, the two attenuators are essentially the same design. If you like a couple clicks on the Brake Lite, you'll find the Airbrake to be similarly capable.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention - I have three THD Hotplates. I agree the Z design is more transparent.

I have both, and can't detect any difference in performance at all, they both do the job admirably, and the Air Brake is a permanent part of my rig. I also used to own a Hotplate but sold it pretty quickly, didn't do it for me.
