Well, I've given up on finding an affordable and non-tonesucking/noisy reverb, so I'm looking at other options to modify the sound of my Rte 66. I've pretty much figured that a wah, while I'd use it sparingly, offers enough expression to be useful. I've checked out (on the web) Fulltone, Zvex and Teese wah's and right now I'm leaning toward the Teese Picture Wah. Any input from you folks on these wah's? Any other options you'd suggest? Thx.

Yo KC, excellent choice going w/ the Teese. One suggestion though, if you use humbucker guitars though I'd go with the Teese Wizard Wah. I play a Les and a Tele and the Wizard is voiced to work well with hums. It also sounds damn good with my Tele too. Teese makes some top notch gear. Make sure you have a good fuzz and overdrive to really make it sing.

I've had several. I used to own a Fulltone clyde but couldn't get used to the wide sweep. Sold that and got an RMC-1, great wah but I was very curious about the Pic wah. Got one and have never looked back!! BTW going from reverb to a wah...that's a jump!

Thanks to all for your input. Lefty, tell me more about the Teese Pic Wah -- are you using single coils, humbuckers or both? I mostly play a Clapton Strat with a DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Solo, this combination gives me great tone thru the 66.

I use a Picture Wah with single coils and a Z28. Works perfect. Very sweet musical wah.

I have used the Teese Real McCoy Custom (RMC) picture wah for a couple of years now. Sounds very good to me, I would replace it with the same model if I needed another, would recommend it make your short list. Had the Dunlap Cray Baby, it broke. Had the Vox, sounded just ok. Plus, I met Geoffrey Teese at the guitar show and he is the kind of guy you want to buy a wah from.

I have the vox Mc Coy, nothing special but better than the stock Vox, and the Wah Probe, which at least for me, can not get a standard "wah-wah" sound. So unless you want something completely unique I would go with the Picture Wah, sounded great in all the clips I have heard..

Years ago I happened to have two Dunlop wa's at the same time. On a whim I cascaded them together and layed a board across them and played them both at the same time. Holy moo-cow that was wild! I always wanted a wa where you could switch another circuit in and get that double sound.

The Budda wah is a good one for a reasonable price.

The key is getting a true bypass wah to not suck the tone, level, and quality of your signal. Just make sure too that it is in the right place in line with your other effects. I love the Morely too, but it does affect the volume...I rarely use a wah, but the Dunlops work great with a by pass.

I agree, the Budda wah is good, I also like the Bad Horsie from Morely. I have a Vox wah, and it has always been reliable too
