I recently pickup a used Air Brake from the board here. I am wondering if you guys have had better results with it. It does not seem to attenuate very well.
The bedroom setting is still very loud.
I thought it would make my Maz 38 super quiet. It is still super loud. Do you have any suggestions? Also, I do not know if the cable is a speaker cable or guitar cable. Would that make a huge difference?
I tried to adjust the steps, but I can't get is quieter. It seems that the master volume does the same thing. I must say that I have not tried it with the band. I will this weekend.
Thanks, James

I don't have an Airbrake, but I do have an attenuator. You may still have to turn the master volume down on the Maz.....even with the bedroom setting with the Airbrake.
You need to find out RIGHT NOW if the cables from the amp to the Airbrake, and from the Airbrake to the speakers are SPEAKER or GUITAR cables. I would not play the amp until you have confirmed they are SPEAKER cables.
Also on a lighter note...if you were happen to be using guitar cables as speaker cables, there wouldn't really be any volume difference.
Unless the idea of blowing your output transformer is your idea of fun. (read: $$$$)
They MUST be SPEAKER cables! They make look the same on the outside, but there is a difference on the inside.
I saw your other posting on 'where to purchase them'. Any music store should have "power' cables. Or you could purchase some off of Ebay. But make sure they say POWER cables.

James, yes definately confirm or just go to G.C. and pick up some "speaker" cables. If your volume on the amp is low you'll get lucky, but throw some current on those guitar cables and you could very well fry your amp.
As far as the Brake, i think some folks just get the wrong expectations of the unit. Bedroom, ...... yes, ... but not at 1:00 in the morning! You know what i mean? It will not, with an amp of substantial volume, give you wisper or even conversational level attenuation. If i use it late at nite when everyones sleeping, i agree with you that in that situation it seems loud, too loud to not wake everyone up. I think if one needs to be truly unheard, in their room, they'd need to take a different approach. It for me is more of a stage tool, to just take the edge off, and of course the less the better for the sound quality. I do find the bedroom mode useful at home during the day time, when i can make a little noise , but dont want to rattle the walls. If your in an apartment, or situation where you might disturb someone in the next room, your gonna have to try maye a pedal or something. So yes the term "bedroom" may be a little decieving, but like so many things, its subjective. Adjusting the steps will not help either, the brake has a certain max attenuation capability, and the steps just alter how quickly you reach the max with each click.

telemanic, thanks for the reply. I think I understand my needs and desires better and what results I will have. I was looking at bedroom levels literally. I do not want to wake up my family while i practice in my home office/studio. But even the Zvex Nano 1/2 watt is LOUD in a 12" Tone Tubby. So my need is to play whisper quiet and still get the tone I want - you know like listening to your favorite guitar player on a CD. But it looks like that is unrealistic if not impossible. Also, it does seem like more of a performance tool. I do not perform but rarely. And, well, don't bash me but i do have a Line 6 POD Pro XT that can be as quiet as one would want and can output to headphones. So I guess why not keep on using that for the late night practices and use the Nano for daytime and the Maz 18 Jr for weekend full out and jamming with the guys.
