Hi guys, I currently own a Maz Jr. 1X12 combo. I was just wondering if the air brake is only intended to be used with heads and cabs, or if it can also be used with a combo amp. I can't really crank the amp up too loud anymore (pissed off neighbors) so I would like to buy one. I just don't want it to damage the amp. So is it cool to use the air brake on a combo amp? Thanks!

You could think of a combo amp as just a head with a built-in cab, so it is fine. You'll just need a speaker cable (make sure it is a speaker cable!) to go from the amp to the airbrake. Then plug the speaker into the airbrake output. Just make sure you have the correct impedance setting.

You also might need a female to female connector to extend the cable coming off of the speaker, so it'll reach the Air Brake. Realistically though, the master volume is so good on these amps that I don't think the Air Brake will sound much better by the time you click it down three or four notches.

Doc usually leaves enough slack in the cable to the speaker where you should be able to sit the z-brake on top of the combo and plug the speaker into it.

On the Loggins & Messina tour last June to October we had airbrakes in the bottom of all of Kenny Loggin's Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amps for the entire tour.
Combo or head .... no matter as kruzty said.
