BL SA arrived yesterday. Slightly bigger than the combo version, no attached wires. Functionally identical to the original. Very cool being able to crank my MAz 18 NR head, finally.

I have a 2-12 open back Z cabinet with a Stang Ray head. What do y'all think the advantage to having the stand alone is over the original brake lite? I could mount the original in my cabinet or even place the stand alone in the bottom of the cabinet with velcro. Which would you z-savy folks do?

I just got my SABL (stand alone B/L) yesterday... I've never had the other, but if you get the SABL - you'll need speaker cable for both in & out... ALSO, the SABL allows you to plug in two cabs, then run the other end into the correct speaker jack on the amp...This can be nice if you don't have one of the PCNS "Y" cables...The unit has four nice plastic feet so it stands flat and stays in place... I put a White knob on it to replace the Red one it came with...It's great, and it's nice to have the option of using it or not. (distant neighbors, yes!) - Humbucker Music has them in stock... tom

I could mount the original in my cabinet or even place the stand alone in the bottom of the cabinet with velcro. Which would you z-savy folks do? The brake lite has a hard-wired input cable that's less than 2' long which must plug into the head. You'd be hard pressed to make that distance from your cab to head and still have access to the adjustment knob. It definitely wouldn't make it from the bottom of your cab without an extender/cable. And as we all know, extra connectors often lead to degradation of sound. The big advantage of the stand alone SA is that it's fully enclosed; the original brake lite is open backed. Also, because all cabling is plug-n-play, you get to choose both input and output length, which gives you more flexibility for placement of the unit. Wish this SA had been available when I bought my brake lite.

I came home with mine yesterday to use with my Remedy. I run 2 8 ohm Mesa Thiele cabs. From my amp do I use the 8 ohm out or the 4?
On the BLSA, which output do I use if I want to run only ONE 8ohm cab? or does it not matter?

With two 8 ohm in parallel plug out of the 4 ohm on the amp. With one 8 ohm speaker come out of the 8 ohm on the amp.
