See my latest 6545 experience on this thread (link removed as it went to some outside junk that had nothing to do with anything Z)

Well I'll put the continuing story here, since this is basically all about the 6545. Wow... After I got the bias set and a new set of preamp tubes in this thing, it rocks. I set up the 6545 and the SRZ-65 both on my THD 4x12 cab just now, and used the Headbone to switch back and forth. That stupid Headbone is oscillating, so it's not going to be a good way to record, but I could A/B the amps and frankly, with all controls dimed on the 6545, and all controls dimed on the SRZ except volume at 3 o'clock, they are very VERY close. I'd say the differences now are down to the differences in the sounds of the tubes that are in each amp. I even looked away and did a bunch of switching back and forth, and I had to reach over and turn the master down to see which amp was on. That's pretty close! The SRZ has just a scosh more gain on tap - if I roll the volume up to full they aren't the same any more. But I never play with that much gain anyway - in fact, now that the 6545 is working right, it has way more than enough gain on tap. Mudskipper asked what my plate voltage is: 440 VDC. 32mA idle current. Jeez, now I have to decide if I want to keep it or not. I know one thing, it's definitley worth what I paid for it now.

the 65 side of my amp really came alive when I replaced the mid pot with a 25k pot. It makes it a little more marshally. I love it now.

BTW I have been using the 6545 as my clean and dirty rhythm amp and my Budda superdrive 18 1x12 as my lead amp. I have a headbone and it makes using the 12" speaker for both amps very easy.

I think the 6545 would be the perfect amp for my Police band. 65 side for those harder driven songs and 45 side for the real clean EL34 tone. And it would make a killer cover band amp... I wish I could try one for a night!
