Having some fun with it today (took a "snow day" ) from work. Have a 3 hour band practice tonight where I'll really put her through the paces. So far so good - this sucker is LOUD! I'll report in further after the practice! Cheers, Blair

The f#@&er rocks dont it?! I started on Zs with a Ghia (as everyone should), and have since aquiried a Z28 and 6545. The other night at rehearsal I was fiddling with my Rivera Knucklehead Reverb and explaining to the guys what a hard rock amp it was...after a while I plugged into my 6545 Z Best and - WOW! the 65 side rocks as hard as the Rivera (whica is a good amp) but with better tone. Enjoy!

Enjoy! Couldn't have said it better myself! Yes, this amp kicks some serious butt. I'm super-happy with it!!! The versatility and power in this little package is unbeatable - bliss for me as a rhythm guitarist to get so much tonal flavor in one amp. However, I will say that I think the older SRZ-65 I have has a little more gain in store than the 6545. Now I've only had that one for about a week and the 6545 for a day, so I don't claim to be any expert. Also, both amps were purchased used and I haven't yet had the chance to experiment with tube changes (so they are both set up exactly as the last owners had them). I reserve the right to change my opinion after I get used to these amps and tweek the tubes a little! Cheers, Blair

Well I don't have any Rivera amps, but I will say that the day I got my Z-Best was the day my Rivera 212 started to look like craig's list bait . Cheers, Blair

rhythmeister,
Welcome to the 6545 family!!! I agree with all the sentiments expressed here. I have not found anything that this head can not do. I love the KT-45 side and the SRZ-65 side is truly phenomenal. I have been through quite a few re-tubes and have settled on my current NOS lineup. I can not believe how great this amp sounds.
Once again, welcome.

There are several posts claiming the SRZ has a tad more gain than the 6545 and I have no reason to doubt the experts here; though I've never played a SRZ. That said, I am rarely ever past 9:00 on my gain on the 65 side and am often on the left side on noon so I can't see the need for more gain at the expense of having that glorious 45 side right there. The 45 side is a hidden gem that is often billed as the cleanest Z; but in truth it holds a good deal of rightous crunch- if you're willing to play loud.
