Hey all, I'm still researching my Z #2 purchase - and have a quick question: I know that the Galaxie is "fixed bias" - but (forgive my ignorance, please) what has to be done to change tubes when that time comes? And if "internal adjustments" are needed, does the chassis have to come out? thanks for your help, even though I'm still waiting for Z #1 -

"Fixed Bias" really means adjustable bias, cathode bias is when you can just replace the power tubes with no adjustment, fyi. So, yes, when it comes time for a power tube swap, the bias needs to be adjusted, and yes, you have to remove the chassis from the cab to access the trim pot for the bias. Also, if you change the rectifier tube, it's a good idea to check the bias. It's a fairly easy thing to do, BUT, if you don't have the tools or the know-how to do it yourself, have a qualified tech do it for you. The voltages in there can fry you like grandmamma's chicken if you're not careful.
Btw, the Galaxie is a phenominal amp!! I highly recommend it!! It's loud, but very worth it, imho. It's a whole different animal than the Maz jr. NR (which is another great Z amp- I've had that one, too).
