About halfway through practice my 6545 head started making an octave/vibrato sort of out of phase sound? I plugged it into a another cab (Thinking it might be my cab) & it was still there? Its sort of an out of phase sound. I will give the Doctor a call, but hoped it might be something simple. Any Ideas?

I have a 6545 as well but I have never had this happen to my amp. I'm anxious to hear what the solution will be. Please keep us posted. Like I always say.. you can never have too much information.

I just got of the phone with the Doctor. First, I have to say what a great guy! He said he has seen this once before & he feels that one of the leads to one of the two filter caps came loose, which he said can create a ghost note (hence the octave like sound). Apparently this is a very simple re-soldering job & all should be well. I am going to open her up tonight & will post back here with the results. What was frustrating though, was that I just got this amp 2 weeks ago (ebay) & was finally getting that sound that has been in my head for 20+ years then kaput! I will be back soon with an update...

I finally had time to pull out the chassis last night & sure enough one of the leads to the filter cap (one farthest from the outside) was broken almost right where it meets the cap. The unfortunate part is since it isn't at the solder joint I will need to order a new cap from the Doctor. I am in love with this amp so much, I am bummed I will have to wait a week to hear it sing again! We are all very fortunate 1) to have these exceptional amps, I have had many from blackface Fenders, late 60's Marshall's & a Boogie & this is the 1st one to really capture the sound I have had in my head! 2) to be able to pick up the phone & speak directly to the man who created, designed & built our amps when we have an issue. Try that one with Fender! Just wanted to post an update to say that Mike Zaite was spot on in his diagnoses!
