Well, I bought a used Z-Verb from forum member asattwanger (thanks Dave!). It's black. So it's about as far from surf green as you could get. But I figure that don't change the sound much and it was a sight cheaper than new.
Anyways, I used her for the first time last night at rehearsal. I sat her atop my MAZ-38NR and pumped them thru an open back Clark tweed cab loaded with 2 Celestion blackback 25s. Boy did it ever sound good. My band mates were all over me about the difference it made in my tone. They really, really liked it and so did I.
What a sweet unit - and not too heavy either.
Me likey!

Yep, it is a great reverb for sure. It is so spacious and natural sounding. Just a gorgeous reverb. And you are right, it is not too heavy, easy to carry to a gig. I don't really use a lot of other pedals typically, so I'm usually now just carrying in my amp head and the Z-Verb together. Easy enough and it sounds soooo good. I've got a Mr. Springgy as well, (and have tried a number of high-end reverb pedals) and there is just no comparison. Z-Verb wins every time. Tube reverb just rocks.
Thank you Doc!!!
