Howdy!!! New guy here and another happy owner of a EZG50. It's a great sounding amp...I'm diggin it ;D I have a Z 2X12 loaded with Scumbacks and getting the sweetest tones ever with my strats and gibby's. This amp is a keeper for sure!!!

I find this interesting. I've been on the fence with mine. I have another head (vintage Traynor YBA-1) that, truth be known, I prefer. However, my bassist and drummer are adament that I've never sounded better, clearer, and more "rockin'" (their word!) than with my "new/old" EZG-50. So I've committed to hanging onto it for at least a couple of months so I can gig with it at a variety of venues to really test it out, including recording it as I've found eyes and ears may sometimes lie but recordings tell the truth.

I have said it in another thread and still believe it to be true- the EZG-50 truly meets it's sonic potential when pushed through the right speaker/cab combination. Many on the forum believe that is the Dr. Z 4x10 cabinet. While that is no doubt a great combo, I prefer it through a Z-Best or an Orange 4x12.
You might try marrying it to a few different multi-speaker cabs and see if your results vary. Also, the amp to me sounds slightly better with single coil pickup equipped guitars, but that may not be the case for other players. And hey, if the EZG-50 doesn't turn out to be what you are looking for then the good news is they hold their resale value pretty well.
Maybe you are searching for a different sound (I would describe the EZG-50 as a Fender Super Reverb comined with a Hiwatt 50 watt with a Z-twist) or a different "feel" from an amp? Good luck!

Maybe you are searching for a different sound (I would describe the EZG-50 as a Fender Super Reverb comined with a Hiwatt 50 watt with a Z-twist) ... That combination sounds darn good to me! While it's admittedly not how I personally hear the amp, I would certainly dig an amp so voiced. In fact, this is close to how I describe my Traynor YBA-1 head: tweed Bassman meets HiWatt (given the classic Bassman circuitry, huge Hammond transformers, and SS rectifier).
