I have a VOS Jr. and a Mazerati Combo 1X12. The best move I've ever made. It's the purist form of expression for me. Simplicity and great overdriven tone. I had to change out the stock Gibson P-90 (it was muddy) for a Fralin P-90 w/ 5% over wound to make it hotter. I'm in bliss every time I play and almost never really think about the tone anymore. I also put in NOS Mullards, they always help!

No LP Jr here, but a Gibson w/p90-s nonetheless. It's got Fralins - very happy with the Mazerati & this guitar. kc

Mine has a pair of blues and the amp is very bright. I'm surprised you found the pup of a custom shop gibson (especially a P90) muddy. I'm tossing the idea of a a Gibson Les Paul Classic around now. I haven't ever really been in to gibsons that much. I'm looking for some versatility to add to my CS Nocaster and the Crook I'll be getting in a few months. I'm gonna get out to the music store hopefully this weekend and compare the VOS lp jr. an lp classic and 61 RI SG. The 61 SG is the only Gibson that I actually owned in the past so I know more of what thats about. I love the tone of the 61 SG but can't stand the looks of one. If the tone is what dictates I may have to just put up with the looks.

My Telesonic with DeArmond single coils sings through the Mazerati.

Hi Terry,
If I wasn't such a Les Paul player I would have never sold you the Masserati. It sounded great with my Tele but not so good with a Les Paul. Stay away from the Classic and stick to teles and P90 equipped guitars

Stay away from the Classic and stick to teles and P90 equipped guitars Bill I am so glad that you sold me the Mazerati. At first it was a slow bond process. But now I never take my Stangray out to the gig. I may even sell the Stangray. To me my new Crook sounds best with the Mazerati.
