WoW!!! I honestly didn't think this day would come for at least another 2 months... but God has been REALLY good to me and my wife (just got married 2 weeks ago!!!), and I was able to get this obviously MUCH sooner than planned. I would've waited, but used Galaxies seem to be rather difficult to come by, and the crazy thing is one of my friends in a band we used to gig with was actually selling one, and he had it at a great price... so I jumped on it!!! ;D
Now my dilemma... when I tried it out in the store a couple months ago, I'm pretty sure I was playing through a Z-Best 2x10 cab, and it sounded perfect. Well, tonight, I plugged in to my friend's 65 open back cab (2x12, one Celestion Blue and the other I believe a G12H30... or something like that)... and while the amp still sounded fantastic, it was much more open and boomy than the 2x10. I want a really tight sound, but still want the thickness of the low end that the Galaxie naturally pushes. And since it was so long ago, I can't really remember whether the 2x10 will get me what I want... Again, I want a nice, thick but tight sound, and NO MUDDINESS!! I want clarity with my notes, but I want them to sound huge too.
So with that said, should I still get a 2x10 closed back, or should I get a 2x12 closed back to get me that extra 'huge'ness but still maintaining a tight bottom end. I know I definitely don't want an open back cab... so really all I need to narrow it down to is whether I want the 2x12 or the 2x10... and which speakers of course.

First, congrats on your new Galaxie. Truly an awesome amp. Second, congrats on your recent wedding and still havin' some cash left to get your Galaxie. ;D As for what cab to use? I have tried various 112 and 210 combinations in the past. Really enjoyed the 112 w/ G12-65 and Z210 at the same time. For a tight bottom end? The 210 cab and/or Z-best 212 cab is lotsa fun with the Galaxie. If you got the funds, get a 210 and a Z-best .... you'll definitely have lots great sounds goin' on cheers always, eh Joel

Congratulations on the wedding.....and the Galaxie . I'd go with the Z 2 x 10 Convertible cab. I've been using mine open backed with a MAZ 18 NR head for the past two years. I think you'll find that the Z 10" speakers have the tightness and all the bottom end you'll ever need. It's also great with my new Galaxie that I got a couple of weeks ago, although I'm still experimenting . You'll need either an Air Brake or a Brake Lite with the Galaxie though ;D.
