ok so im still savin up the bread to get my z, however in doin a little amp research i noticed thatbesides the same wattage, the z-28 and the deluxe have almost the same tube configuration.....they both operate on 6v6 platforms with the the same rectifier tube.....i think the deluxe just has a few moe 12ax7's in there for the other channel, reverb, vibrato thing......but if you just look at the normal channel on the deluxe its volume bass treble.......anyone ever compare the 2 side by side....any thoughts on this?......love to hear what some people say

I id a side by side comparison between the Z28 and a Tweed Deluxe and ffound them to be damn near identical when cranked. You could probably dial the Z28 in to sound similar to a Deluxe Reverb. But of course it will still sound like a Z

I had a deluxe reissue and my z28 for a short time. The midrange in the amps was different but aside from that the Z had a much better bottom end thru both my Z 4x10 cab and the Fender speaker. The Z28 was also a little louder (more balls) and broke up a little sooner. The Deluxe is now long gone ;D ArnieZ

The Z-28 and Deluxe reverb are very very different amps. The output set may be the same but this is not where amp magic happens. The front end, tone stack, and signal flow are completely different. The Z-28 is much more pedal friendly than a Fender front end which most consider to be very pedal friendly .... if that is your standard.
I also find the Z-28 and tweed deluxe very different amps in every way. The tweed deluxe cannot touch the headroom of a Z-28.

I use to gig a lot with a tweed deluxe. For a while I used a JBL D120 and more recently a Celestion Century n-dym speaker. The Celestion sounds better than the JBL, and it's louder. So I am very familiar with the Tweed Deluxe sound. Totally different than a Deluxe Reverb. I used to have three Deluxe Reverbs and sold them all because I got a Vibroluxe Reverb that sounded twice as good. I don't even see the comparison between the Z28 and the Deluxe Reverb. The Z28 is just a flat better amp. The Z28 actually sounds more like a Brown Super to me but not as loud. Fender should have stayed with the Brown era circuits. I think he kept taking the midrange out so the amps wouldn't be so hard on the speakers.
