I tried my Mini with my Hughes and Ketner Tube Factor today. It was the first amp that truly sounded great with that pedal, I guess it's not for sale any more ;D The Mini also seems to love my Way Huge Aqua Puss. And I love the amp........

Ok now has anyone used a holy grail reverb with the mini? How about the hall of fame?

Analogman's TS-9 Silver and Mini Chorus (w/mix knob) are my favorite effects with the Mini Z.

I use the EP Boost with my Mini Z quite often. Nice combination with either my Tele or LP.

Gristle King... the Luxury Drive seems to tame/sweeten the signal perfectly and then you have D.G.T.M. side to add some drive... loose (old school) or tight (more compressed). The Gristle King is one of the most underated hand wired pedals available.

Actually I run a 12AY7 which knocks the gain of the amp down quite a bit. I think it improves the overall tone of this amp as well... much more woody sound... ;D! The plexidrive is run at a low gain setting to add some grit... sounds good for low volume stuff! OK... I use an AU7 in mine, which still stuns when dimed. That's a good idea. I have a bunch of NOS 12AU7 long plates that I may try!

+1 on the wampler plexidrive - w/ the bass setting engaged great slide tones!

Agreed. I love the EP Boost with the mini and a Telecaster. Used it as my only amp on stage with two other guitars, bass and drums on Friday night and it was stellar in every way. Such a fun amp and pushing it just a tad with the EP Boost fattened things up so nicely.

Late, late to this thread. The only thing I found lacking in the Mini Z was reverb. Picked up a TC Electronics HOF mini unit...wonderful! All I need and then some. I'd become a huge fan of Barber pedals over the years. Have a Direct Drive and Small Fry. If I want to go insane, I can kick one in with the Mini Z about noon. Astounding. Also takes my DD-3 delay and Hardwire chorus very nicely. It's a very pedal friendly amp, imho.

Has anyone tried the Xotic EP Boost with a Mini? I don't have my Mini yet but 'm thinking it will push/color it nicely. Update. Got it love it. A bit better with single coils, but still great with my lp too. I run my Exotic AC boost into my Mini to give it a little ‘push’, sounds great! Nice having a bass and treble knob on the pedal too, since the amp has none. Cheers, Scott.

I've owned the original 8" mini z and GA5 reissue; kept a 2nd generation mini z and value the straight-up, natural tone and breakup characteristics of the mini z but very much liked how a J Rockett Animal Overdrive and Wampler Catapulp sounded with it. I recommend the 6n14n tubes as they seem to have later breakup and they're relatively cheap and well made too.
