Hi guys,
This is my first post on this forum. I'm a former owner of a MAZ 18 NR head and a ZBest cab (loved). After regretting the sell of my stuff on ebay (I thought that I could do without) I'm back in the market. So, short story long:
I'm very intrigued by by the RX Jr, more gain, percussive, chime, etc. However I have not played one and I will not have the opportunity before my purchase. as of taday, I'm going to buy another MAZ 18, but this time a 2x10 combo with the tone bypass mod. I feel that the maz will be a good choice cause I usually play 'modern' country but I am also called to do ZZtop, skynyrd, classic rock whatever and your normal bar crap from time to time. I do all of this with a telecaster (with 1 Lindy custom bridge, 1 lindy mid, blues special and a semour duncan bridge mini-hum thing that I split and add with toggles).
Tell me why you think that I should go for the RXJr as my only amp right now(or not)
Thanks Dudes,

Welcome to the forum first off. While I do not have the Maz 18, I do have the 38 as well as the Rx Jr. If you do some research here I think you will find the Maz 18 the most popular, or most versatile amp the Doc makes. Though my Rx Jr is a blast to play and does what it does excellent, from what you are describing you may be happier with the Maz 18NR - with either 12's OR 10's. I feel both amps take pedals well also. Hope that doesn't frustrate you even more

hey welcome to the forum. Honestly I think you'll find either will work well for you. While the Maz 18 is the "swiss army knife" of the Z line you'll find that the tone of the Rx jr is pretty much a mash up of a Marshall and a Vox. You'll definitely get close to ZZ top with buckers and there is definitely enough chime to get some sweet modern country tones (it is the kid brother of the RX ES that BP helped design). Both Jrs take pedals great. You can't lose with either, but i'm more partial to the Rx jr since that's the one i have

I had a MAZ Jr. 1X12 Combo for a long time. Now I have an RX Jr. head and 2X10 cab. I play stuff very similar to what you do and either amp would work, but I've become partial to the RX Jr. It's got the sound I could get really close to with the MAZ, but not quite.

I agree with others that it sounds like either amp will work well for you, but when you toss in that word "country" - I tend to lean toward the Rx Jr.
