Wondering, who plays a 335 style guitar with their KT45.
Secondly, what are you favorite settings?
I've got a Heritage 535 that I'm starting to play a bit with the KT45. So far I'm mainly using the neck pickup and setting treble and bass around 9 and volume from 12 and up.
I haven't mucked around with the settings with the 535 much at this stage other than to find a starting point that does not involve too much feedback. It seems if I get over 11-12 on the treble, the feedback really starts to kick in.
I know this is a pretty quiet section, and there may not be too many who play a 335, but I'd love some feedback (of the written type) and to start finding out who is who.

Thanks Curt. I'll have to see if I can find that track. I bet Buddy knows every little tweak possible. I didn't even realise that he was mucking around with a kt45, although he did drop a comment about all settings at max (with a strat I think).
I've worked out that I can play with all settings at 3 or max if I have the guitar volume dropped all the way off and bring it back up until just before feedback. Sounds very big and gruff. Seems like I can use any settings if I ride the guitar volume, and all sound great until I hit feedback.

I happen to have that album and just listened to the entire cut (Going Down). What a sound thru that KT!

The BEST KT45 tone I ever had was once in Palatine, IL at Durty Nellie's with a borrowed SG Standard (thanks Dave!) flew to O'hare from DeeEffDub via Minnie-Nippleus and my guitar didn't make the flight, I carried on the KT45 head! They had a JCM900 4X12 at the gig, and man I was gettin' that big ol' bloomy clean sustainy thing that I always dream of but never quite get. Loudern' a big dawg, but man it was slammin' an' I was jammin'.

Hi Buddy,
I presume you prefer the Maz 38 in general. Is that due to versatility? or choice of guitars? just basic preference?
Do you still own a kt45? and if so how often does it get played in comparison? (an I presume there is probably a fair few amps in the back room at home to share duties with).
I'm very curious as there does not seem to be the big love for the kt45, and I love that 335/kt45 tone on goin down, and the noises I am making with the 535 and kt45.
Are there any other recorded songs where you've played the 335/kt45 or even just the kt45 and a tele or strat etc?
Thanks for your feedback so far. You are very kind with your time.

I am a huge fan of the combination of the two. Nothing like pairing a great guitar with an amazing amp. I found that setting all three knobs to about noon and then rolling the guitar volume down just a hair below maxed sounds fantastic.
That being said I really love playing the KT with a strat with the tone controls cranked.
My absolute favorite settings on the KT are using my Big Apple Strat on the bridge humbucker, volume maxed, treble maxed, and bass at about noon or 1 o'clock. Of course this requires being a mile or so from any other people.

Also, I am selling both my KT and my Heritage 535. Really really really hate to let go of both of them, but sometimes the cash matters more.

Probably most of the Mayall 'Palace of the King' record is a '95 335 and a KT45 or MAZ 38. A little ghia in there too. Been playin' the MAZ since about 94, '95, just really 'used' to it and I like a little onboard 'verb. I played in Duluth at the Bayfront Blues Festival once w/ a Lentz HSL and KT45, we were outside so didn't have to worry much about bein' too loud! I love that big sustainy headroomy 'bloom'.
